Recording Capacities

Recently had to replace my DVR VIP 1225, with the original one I had I never had to worry abouit the recording capacity being used up. I had up to eight movies both HD and regular and numerous series recorded and still had plenty of capacity.

The replacement appears to be the exact same type and model but now it seems to be continually running out or using up the recording space. Does the various VIP 1225 models have different recording capicities or is there some setting that is set for recording capacity?
