att wifi not working on windows vista using ACM

I have a windows vista computer(sp2) latest version of ACM (6.12.0046.0) i have had my sim card replaced as an att tech told me to do i have installed the latest drivers for my wifi adapter upgraded the firmware for the mercury i have done everything i can think of even adding the acm into the windows firewall allow list. each time i try to get on the wifi i get the message "Failed to authenticate: user name or password incorrect" does anyone have any ideas to fix this i have had this issue at mcdonalds, airports, and starbucks and each time i want to use the wifi i have to call att tech support and get them to let me in.

Does your phone number show in ACM under 'Help' -> 'My Wireless Number'? I'm pretty sure it should, especially if you've replaced your SIM, but it's worth checking.

Have you tried your card in a different computer or a different card in your computer?

yes the number is displayed in the about section of ACM i can connect using gsm but even with the card inserted the wifi does not connect. i can not try it in another pc because i do not have another pc to try it in. at&t and wayport has been working on this since the beginning of may.
