I use to love ATT wireless. I have been with them for roughly 12 years now. I rarely had a problem with their service anywhere I went. I recommended them to anyone looking for cell phone service. Within the last 6-7 months I have had dropped calls, text messages not coming in on time, some taking a day or two to finally come through, I am not able to use the internet on my phone and have to turn to my Verizon hotspot for my internet, slow gps service and sometimes the service puts in 5 miles, 10 miles or even in a completely different state 800 miles away!
4g service - We are suppose to have a 4g service in the Lafayette - West Lafayette, IN area. I can watch my service go from 4g to E to G in a matter of seconds. This has happened in multiple locations at multiple times and not just where I live. I can go to a sporting event and try to catch up on scores, post something on social media and I am not able to get through. I look around and many people are typing, talking and surfing. I recently asked my brother if he could get through when we were at a football game and he was having trouble too. I first was thinking it was just me. ATT has claimed it could be an overload on the system, doubt it. If it is roughly 40,000 people there should be a problem. I've had the same problem at the Indianapolis 500, but again I still see others using their phone. Heck, my dad was with me and I had to use his pay as you use it phone and was able to get through on a call.
Dropped calls and calling - I understand a drop call will happen. I am willing to give them a couple a year, but when you have 3-4 in one day, and you get one at least once a week, not good. When I call someone I would like to talk to them not have to call them back every 5 minutes. When I make phone calls it is very in and out. I have to repeat myself 3-4 times before the other person hears what I'm trying to say.
Text messages - There is absolutely no reason a text message should not come in a day or two late. I haven't had that in the last couple of months, but I have had text messages with a time stamp that is 5 to 10 minutes behind what the actual time is. I have to sometimes wait up to 5 minutes to get a text message to actually go through.
Internet - I can sit here at my home and have one tiny little bar. I pull out my Verizon hotspot, switch on my WIFI and works like there isn't anything wrong with it. The cell towers for these two company's are within 1/4 of a mile of each other. Heck, I would be happy if I can get two bars for my internet. If I could, I would be able to use my phone for internet service.
Each time I have called ATT about these issues they say that they are still "upgrading" their system "it could be awhile". Wireless service is not always guaranteed. They have even blamed my facebook app because it showed that I was in North Carolina. I tried to tell them that it wasn't just facebook that was showing that. Google and my gps where too. My gps system was very slow during that time. It would not move as I went down the road. I hate that they tell you to turn off your phone, take the battery out, etc. I know that process but it doesn't work. I'm getting tired of it. I don't think there is much more I can do accept to just bear it for the next 6 months and switch to Verizon when my contract runs out. Obviously, since our hotspot works my phone the service should be good too.
