Not receiving messages from one person
As of a couple days ago I can't receive text messages only from one number. They receive my messages and their phones shows that the messages sent to me but I haven't received any of them.

Which cell carriers?
Can you call each other?
Without posting the entire phone numbers, how do they appear in your contacts list?

I have the LG optimus g pro. They have htc one from verizon. The number in my contact list appears 555-555-5555.

No iphone involved, but Verizon is. Don't know why these two networks can't play nice.
Can you call each other?
Try removing his number from your contacts, then add back in different format.
(555)555-5555
If it is out of state
1(555)555-555

Calling works. I deleted and re-added the number but I still can't receive their messages.

I’d be happy to help with this messaging issue! I understand you have already removed and re-added the number. In order to fully remove the number from the device, we’ll need to perform the following on both your phone, and the affected Verizon phone.

I have AT&T. On iPad I have stopped receiving emails from all except my husband
My iPhone works fine. Any suggestions?
