Messaging someone out of area code?

I live in a different area code than my friend does, he has nextel and i'm using AT&T duh, does it cost more for me to text/message him since he is in a different area code then me? I think i have messaging unlimited for families.

If you're NOT on a grandfathered plan ("orange" ? or "blue"), odds are you will be fine and it would not cost extra.

If you're on a grandfathered plan, you'll need to re-read the terms of that plan.

Let's try it this way...When did you sign sign your first contract with AT&T? and what is the cost of your monthly voice plan?

Odds are if you don't know what I'm talking about you should be fine

The old blue and orange plans were "regional" only and if you were on that you would have incurred long distance charges making calls out of your region.

Blue is referred to as the old AT&T Wireless plans (prior to Cingular buying AT&T Wireless out)

Orange is referring to the old Cingular plans (prior to the name change to AT&T)

You can text to any phone with a USA area code or to covered territories (USVI and Puerto Rico) under your messaging plan without incurring any fees...as long as your phone is not roaming internationally and you are not sending to an international number.

Your messaging plan covers your sending to a friend in a different USA/USVI/PR area code
