Something I learned other night after an hour with a tech rep who first claimed I should have it working on my devices.. seems that if you have a mobile hotspot/netbook/broadband device or a tablet with the plan AT&T offers you, you cant do text messaging at all. Now what is odd about this, the software they give you for your netbook/broadband has the ability built in TO text message. Same thing on Android Tablets AT&T offer. The normal native messaging app will allow for cellular text messaging. Something T-Mobile has always allowed/provided in their mobile broadband devices.
Now after the tech spent an hour trying to figure this all out, she temp put my netbook/tablet on a smartphone provisioned plan instead. Whamo, text messages on my netbook/tablet started to work. However back on the broadband plan. Nothing. So we learned that YES it works, just seems AT&T has NO plans or even feature addons to provide us the allowance for text.
So just wanted to make a thread for convosation here to see if others agree, that some sorta ability should be provided for us, considering AT&Ts own software given or tablets have the ability there, its just the plans that dont have it provisioned in any form. Maybe if enough of us desire it, maybe AT&T could look into this matter.
