Have 3 iphones in the family. Unlimited data, unlimited text messaging, unlimited mobile to mobile. We are on a shared family plan. My question is will using an application like Yahoo Messenger for iphone use minutes or result in a data charge if I text outside the network or even in the network?

Nothing you do on iPhone will ever result in a data charge as you have unlimited data plan (we're not talking about roaming internationally, of course). You have unlimited messaging, so it'll cover all of the messages sent (except those to international numbers) & received. Only talking on the phone will use minutes (those not covered by N&W or M2M, which will be unlimited). I don't know whether Yahoo Messenger app for iPhone will use messages or data, but it shouldn't matter to you — either way you're covered.

Thanks for the fast reply. This is what I assumed but wanted some type of confirmation. Most of my communication is split equal between voice, text and IM (using yahoo messenger), and almost all of it is on ATT network and not international.

All apps for the iPhone uses data. I have Beejive(9.99) and don't have unlimited text. I use it regularly and you will not be charged text, or minutes, only data. This is the main reason why ATTM forces you to get the data plan, so people will not cry about a $5k+ phone bill.

You're welcome! Yes, in this case all your non-voice activity will be covered by your unlimited data & messaging plans.
