Strange issues with DSL service

For the past few weeks, in order to acess the internet I've had to log into my modem at least once daily or press the reset button in the back before it works. By that I mean that when I try to go to a webpage I am redirected to the router login with the account email and password. I know this isn't really all that difficult since I just have to press a button to get internet access. But why has this been happening every day? Other times it'll bring me to the installation page and have me go through the steps to turn on the internet service. Something else I've noticed is that this only tends to happen if nobody has been accessing the internet for several hours. What happens is when I wake up I see only the power and dsl lights are lit on the modem when usually the power, dsl, and internet lights would all be lit when nobody was on the internet.
Is this normal or do we have a faulty modem? I thought doing a firmware update on the router would solve this, but it only acted normal for a day before acting like this again.

It sounds like it's not saving your login settings so you're not authenticated automatically.
When you login, do you see an option to save your login info?
