I can connect everything to my network except my wireless printer, called HP tech support and the only way to connect was to disable security which is cuurently default set to WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK. Can anyone help configure the router so I have some security and still be able to use my printer? Thank you!

Your printer should have no problems with WPA2/AES. Have you done a factory reset on the printer? How are you trying to configure the printer, with a computer, or through the printer control panel?

Hi, thanks for your message. I used the HP setup wizard both through the printer and the computer. I probably spent over an hour with HP's tech support, we reset the printer as well. Down to trying to reconfigure my router and ATT won't help unless I pay extra.

Well you get an "A" for effort.![]()
Seriously though, any wireless HP printer less than 6 or maybe 7 years old should have no problems with your wireless security.
Do all your other wireless devices connect without issue?
Have you enabled MAC Filtering on your gateway/router?
It could be the radio on the printer is failing, how long have you had your printer?
Not sure if you're aware, but according to HP, the printer network configuration using a computer will only work if the computer is connected directly to the printer with a USB cable.

Thanks. All of my wireless devices connect to the network except the printer. MAC filtering is disabled. The radio is fine, it works when the security to the network is disabled. I also checked using my father's printer ( same model) and his could not connect as well. I have configured both with the usb cable and without wirelessly.
Perhaps my best bet is to just change the network security settings to a WEP but ATT won't help me to reconfigure my system without pay support.

Although setting security to WEP might solve the problem with the printer, I would not reccomend the downgrade in security.
Is the printer still under warranty? If it is I would ship it back, as there is obvoiusly a fault if the only way it connects is with WEP security settings.
Have you updated the printers firmware? If not I would suggest trying that.
To update the printer, unfortunately it needs internet access, so you will need to set the gateway to WEP temporarily, get the printer connected, and follow the directions below which are from the HP website.
Important : The HP product must connect to a wireless network with an active Internet connection to receive updates. However, the product does not need to be connected to a computer.-
From the product control panel, press the ePrint button (
). The Web Services Settings menu displays. -
Press the button (
) next to the Down Arrow (
) to select Check Product Updates , and then press the button (
) next to OK .Follow the on-screen instructions to perform a product update.
NOTE: -
To update automatically while in the Web Services Settings menu, touch Turn Automatic Update On , and then press the button (
) next to OK . -
If you choose not to update automatically, check for updates every week to make sure that you get the most out of your HP product.

Thank you so much for your help. With the network security disabled I was able to connect to the router and update successfully but that did not solve the problem. There must be some incompatability issue with the router and the printer.
