I have had this modem/router for 6 months and yesterday the wireless would not connect to either laptop.
Hard connection to desktop works fine and device tests pass [thus I am able to make this post]
Router shows as available with 4 bars on XP and Win7 laptops.
When I click to connect to my SSID on Win7 laptop, a box saying 'connecting to XXX'' pops up then disappears.
Then a box pops up saving 'Windows is unable to connect to XXX'
I can do this all day - have tried resetting/unplugging router and and nothing changes.
Where is the diagnostic to check the router's wireless hardware for correct operation?
Someone from AT&T get back to me before I cancel and go to cable.
This unit replaced my original which died after many years of service.

If the computer can see the the network and the signal is strong enough, the only ting that would prevent the connection would be the security settings.
Have you modified the wireless security settings in the 7550 or in your computers?
Have you added or updated any antivirus/firewall software on your computers?
Have you rebooted the 7550 or tried a factory reset on it?

ACE - No, No and Yes
My devices could 'see' the router on the list of available networks - as well as neighbors'.
I could connect one of the laptops if close to the router, but it would lose connection.
I could connect laptops to a neighbor's open network that had only 2 bars.
I finally got a support person who logged on remotely.
All she did was change the wireless channel from "automatic" to "11"
She went right to this as if she had done it before - many times.
Then everything worked again with 5 bars in my usual laptop locations.
Cell phone also connected again as well.
Such a simple solution to a frustrating situation as there was no hint anywhere to do this.
So the questions remain - what happened to prevent connecting and what does changing the channel do?
Devices can apparently 'see' the wireless router regardless of the channel setting.
After the change I searched on "changing wireless channel" and found 1 link.

they suggest channels 1,6,11 - go figure - the support person selected 11.

Glad to hear you're up and running again. Wireless interference would have been next suggested step.
