Hello,
Currently I have the 2Wire Gateway 3800hgv-b with the latest firmware. I recently added an extender to my network. I joined the new network with my iphone and had only one issue. I constantly had to have the phone renew the lease on my new wi-fi network in the settings on my iPhone.
A couple of days later my phone was no longer connecting to either of my networks. My iPad and other two iPhones connect to my network just fine. Figuring that the problem was with my phone, I decided to restore my iPhone, that didn't work. I reset the network settings, didn't work. I would ignore the network then try to manually join the them to no avail. The next day I attempted to access my office wi-fi and I could. It's just my home network that I cannot join and it's just my iPhone, all other devices work properly.
I accessed the gateway via the IP address on my computer and I can see all the devices in my network. My phone is listed there by name, but it shows that the phone is set with a static IP (0.0.0.0) Everything else is set to DHCP.
I'd like to know how I can switch the designation on my iPhone from static to DHCP. I can't change anything through the Gateway's interface or in the iPhone's settings. What am I missing?
Thanks for your assistance,
Nicholas

Hi,
Thank you for providing me with detailed information.
Please do the following:
1. Access your modem from your computer like you did before.
2. Go to Home Network - > Advanced settings
3. Make sure that Default DHCP pool is selected
4. Are you using MAC address filtering?
5. Normally the only reason the router will not give out a usable IP address is because the password for the network is typed incorrectly. Please remove the network again from your iPhone and make sure you are using the correct password.
Please let me know if this helps.
Thank you,
JustinF

1: I accessed my router through Internet Exlorer.
2: I do not have any Home Network menus, are you referring to an option in Windows? I have Windows 7.
3: As far as I know DHCP is default. All my other devices are connecting this way.
4: I have checked the MAC filtering and it is not turned on.
5: I have tried and re-tried entering the password. I even looked at the router directly for the key instead of referring to my master list.
Any other suggestions?

Hi,
I apologize my recommendation did not resolve your issue.
Please try the following:
1. Log into your Modem again using Interent Explorer
2. Click on the Settings tab ---> Click on the LAN tab ---> Click on IP Address Allocation
3. On this screen please check to make sure that none of your devices are set to static
4. If you find your device on the list as "Connected Static IP" ---> change Address assignment to "Private from Pool"
5. Click Save
6. Click on Status at the top of the same screen
7. Under the Devices header ---> Click on Clear List
This should change your static IP to an IP that is coming from your DHCP. Please let me know if this resolves the issue.
Thank You,
JustinF
