Please help my friend..

My best friend, Collin.. brought an AT&T locked iphone 4 last month from Target(149$) from his pocket money, but he had not inserted the Sim into the cell as of yet as the dumbo was using it as an IPOD without his father's knowledge.

But, now he decided to sell of this iphone through ebay and use the regular Nokia cheap one(non - Smart) as his father had cut down his expenses relative to his poor grades.

He is ready to carry on with the 40$ AT&T voice plan, his father paying. But, want to get rid of that 15$ extra voice plan somehow. Please help my friend.....

Hi there!

We do have two incredibly awesome Community Managers who do post on the forums, helping out where they can! 🙂

Out of curiosity, since you mentioned a data plan for $15, were you referring to the 200MB plan for smartphones? If so, Customer Care can remove it as your friend is no longer using a smartphone. The data plan is only required for service on smartphones such as the iPhone, HTC Inspire etc. 😉

Hope that helps!

Unfortunately, there is no official AT&T customer service presence here as this is a customer user forum. However, what has been stated here is correct. The contract is for voice service. The data plan is only required if you use a phone that requires a data plan. Your friend can sell his iPhone and use some other phone to complete the remainder of the contract. If it's not a smart phone, he won't need to pay for a data plan, he just needs to pay for his voice service. Your friend simply needs to contact AT&T and tell them what phone he is going to use and have them remove the data plan if he's not using a smart phone.

Hi there!

Customer Care should be able to help your friend out with removing a plan feature! 😉 They can contact them by dialing 611 from their device. 🙂

Alternatively, they can also change plan features by accessing their online account via OLAM. 😉

Let us know if you have any more questions! 🙂

No one here can make changes to your friends line of service. For that your friend will need to have the primary account holder call customer care at 1-800-331-0500 and speak to a customer service Rep. They are the ones who can review the account and make any necessary changes to it.
