You can reset your password without knowing what is was before.
Goal:
How can I reset my voicemail password?
Fix:
Reset the voicemail password when using the automated system
Reset the password using the website
- Call 611 or 800-331-0500.
- Enter the wireless number starting with area code.
- Press 3 to "get help with voicemail".
- Press 3 to reset the voicemail passcode.
- Enter the Billing Zip code.
- A text message will be sent to the wireless handset. If the wireless account does not have text messaging, please contact Customer Care to have the voicemail password reset.
NOTE: This can take up to 15 minutes.Change the password from the voicemail box
- From the myWireless Account home page, select Phone/Device then choose the Reset Voice Mail PIN link from the left column or click here: Reset Voicemail Password (logged in users only).
NOTE: If there is more than one line on the account, make sure the correct wireless number is displayed in the Wireless Number list before selecting Reset Voice Mail PIN.- To reset the password for any of the lines in the plan, choose a wireless number from the drop-down menu.
- Click on Submit.
- The system will send a text message to the wireless phone with the new password. If the wireless account does not have text messaging, please contact Customer Care to have the voicemail password reset.
Change the password from the voicemail inbox when using another phone
- Press and hold the 1 key.
- Enter the current password.
- Press 4, 2, 1 to change the password.
Reset through MEdia Net on the device
- Dial the wireless number.
- During the greeting, press the * key.
- Enter the current password.
- Press 4, 2, 1 to change the password.

- Access MEdia Net on the device.
- Select My Account.
- Select Reset Voicemail Pwd.
- The password will be reset to the last seven digits of the wireless number.

Alas there is a giant bug in the AT&T website. For those of us with a family plan, it is IMPOSSIBLE to use the website to reset the password on other than the first cell phone. The website does not allow picking a phone for resetting the password. A guy at the store advised me to make a separate login for the second phone, but that doesn't work either.
There are several features like this on the AT&T website- they don't work on the second phone. As a website designer, I have to say that the AT&T website seems overengineered yet strangely disfunctional- i.e. it could be simpler and work better and do more things.

Did you fully read step one above? It shows how to select the line on the account that you want to reset? Its worked for me in the past when I had a FamilyTalk plan.
From the myWireless Account home page, select Phone/Device then choose the Reset Voice Mail PIN link from the left column or click here: Reset Voicemail Password (logged in users only).
