If you already had a smartphone data plan, it will not affect your bill.

Are you sure you have a smartphone data plan, or do you have a QMD data plan? Most smartphones have bill breakdowns like:
- Base voice package: $49
- Smartphone data plan: $30 (or $15 if you try to "co the cheap route")
- Unlimited Text message: $20
This tends to total out around $100/month or about $80/month if you go without an SMS plan option, and $65 if you really limit your data use (and therfore your usage of the iPhones features).

I have a smartphone plan my whole family does my cousin is 89$, brothers 53$ grandmas 45 and mine is 54$ my cousin has and iPhone and we have androids that's y I asked if my bill will raise if I switch over. So I guessing it be 89$ a month I I'm right. If kdfederer say it won't and u say it might was the difference !!! Explain more??? Plz
Are you on a family plan then the addition of another smartphone will not be as much as a single plan and even cheaper if shared data we need more info.

Proper wording will always result in a better answer.

Exactly which family plan with data sharing do you have? The only such plan that can be currently had is the Mobile Share Plan (unlimited minutes/text, with a fixed amount of sharable data); if that is not the plan you and your relatives are using, then would you mind sharing with us the exact name of the (grandfathered) plan that you have, as that will help us figure out whether indeed your bill will go up if you switch to an iPhone?
If OTOH you are on the Mobile Share plan and you are indeed using an Android-based smartphone on said plan, then it shouldn't cost you extra to switch to an iPhone other than paying the $36 upgrade fee (if upgrading), and/or if you're looking to increase the amount of data available on your Mobile Share plan.

Ok, based on that it sounds like the data isn't really "shared"--i.e., there is not a single fixed amount of data (i.e., data bucket) that you and your relatives can pull from. In that case, if there is indeed a smartphone data plan currently associated with your Android (I believe you indicated that you were currently using one), then I would think your bill shouldn't raise simply because you swapped your Android out for an iPhone--not unless you elect to switch to a smartphone data plan whose cost is higher than what you're paying for your current smartphone data plan.

Actually, that does sound like the mobile share plan (voice and text unlimited but data has a cap), especially since I don't think any of the existing family plans have unlimited voice. They are all based on a certain amount of minutes per month with rollover.

There is a family plan with unlimited voice minutes that is not Mobile Share.

Your only additional fee will be the upgrade fee of $36 which is charged when you upgrade your phone.

Well maybe if you had indicated at the very outset that you did not buy the phone as an upgrade, then maybe any of us could have given you a more accurate answer--and yes, the answer to your question would depend on whether you purchased the iPhone at subsidized upgrade pricing...so nobody could have simply told you yes or no without knowing the entire story first. I mean, what if, based on the information you had provided up to this point, someone told you "yes" but another person told you "no"...then what? You asked for an answer and you got one...

For monthly service fees, it does not matter if you bought the phone or not. I will admit that your questions have not been as clear as you think they are.
It sounds like your share of the family plan is what you indicated above. As you state, you had a smart phone and now you have a new smart phone so nothing should change in price as all smartphones require you to have data when used on the ATT network. You also mentioned moving the SIM, that may or may not be possible as SIM sizes have gotten smaller. I would go to an ATT corporate store and have them do the SIM swap for you and make sure they have the right type of phone listed on your account. It should be no cost for this. They can also look at your account and give you an exact answer as no one here can see your account.
