iphone unlock procedure

since it isnt an actual unlock code, and they give you a procedure on what to do, could you please tell me the steps they tell you to do to "tether' your iPhone so it unlocks?

You'll need to contact AT&T to see if your iPhone is eligible to be unlocked. If your iPhone is, within a few days AT&T will
Email you the instructions on how to do it. It's basically a sync and restore via iTunes after AT&T and Apple have whitelisted your iPhone for an unlock. Without that whitelisting, the only way to unlock your iPhone is via a jailbreaking and unlocking procedure that cannot be discussed here.

They wil verify your eligiblity and if you are eligible, they will process the request.

No,  They do not have a support email account.  They do have online chat found in the lower right of the support page  but you have to have an account to use it.  Calling becomes your only option.

Exactly. You'll need to call AT&T and request that your iPhone be unlocked. That's the only way to get your phone whitelisted.
