Contact the seller.  They show the phone as under contract from the original buyer.  They may have purchased a new phone to use and sell their iPhone but since they bought it under discount, you cannot get it unlocked yet.

You need to have purchased the iPhone from an authorized dealer. Fulfilled your contract or have purchased the iPhone at full price.  You need to call ATT to determine if you are eligible as we can only tell you the rules but not the decision.

Based on the date of purchase you indicate, you should not have any problems.  See the number in my signature.

You need to call.  Try Skype to keep your costs down and if you can find that receipt.

Without a contract, you need to call. They do not have email and chat is in the online account area.

Can someone please help, Im from australia and i'm desperately trying to get my daughters iphone unlocked but none of the phone numbers i've found will work. I stupidly brought the phone of ebay without checking if it was australian. Any help at all would be great.

Setup Skype and call Customer Support: 1-800-331-0500

To get the phone unlocked you will need to supply at least one items of the following

1. the att phone number that was attached to the device when it was under ATT contract -OR-

2. the account number the device was attached to when it was under att contract -OR-

3. a reciept showing you payed full retail price for the phone from a authorized dealer

Yes you can call cusomter service, get a skype account and utilize that, there is no other method of starting the investigation into seeing if your iphone is eligible for unlock.

to be eligible for unlock you must supply the required information, if you cannot supply it then you can call them but don;t expect a unlock

I have sent email to icare3@amcustomercare.att-mail.com requiring how to unlock my iphone which is purchased through Best buy and its not contract they replied i have to be an AT&T customer or i should have receipt prove that  there is no commitment with at&t after long time i have got the receipt i have sent it to them and up than 2 weeks i didnt got any response!!!!

I need to unlock my IPhone 4 . But I live in Turkey,Istanbul however I don't use any AT&T Wireless Number .

So I can not use my IPhone ..

I can not login on chat support or mail support . What should I do  ? How can you help me ? 

I paid all amounts, not have a contract  with AT& T and also have a receipt, I scanned it and I can send it to you . 

Note: Besides last month it was broken down, and then Apple Store changed it with new one. So I have a different IMEI numbers but anyway you have to have the details. .

ok here is my problem, the date they clame I bought the phone is the date I signed up for my contract. It would be impossible for the person I boguht the phone from to buy it and sell it to me the same day I bought it form him

same phone number just use Skype to make the call.  The cost of the credits should be less.

by unapproved methods - are they safe? Who knows they think they are. Issue is Apple has to get involved with the unlock - and apple has shut down a number of these sites already. As with all unapproved methods - you it at your own risk

I would really like to officially unlock my iPhone 4. My name is Gleb, i bought this phone on eBay like a present for my birthday , but I'm not the resident of USA, so I can't use it with local operators. There is absolutely no way to handle it other then calling them. If you phone qualifies for a unlock then you can get skype and call them. To qualify for unlock you must meet at least one of the following criteria

1. Have the phone number that was attached to the device when it was under ATT contract -OR-

2. Have the ATT account number that the devices was acitvated on -OR-

3. have a receipt from the authorized dealer showing you paid full retail price for the phone (in most cases ebay and craigslist are not authorized dealers)

Get a skype account, call att Customer service and request the unlock process start, you will need to supply at least oneof the above requirements.

Did you buy it from an authorized seller? If so, I would call back and plan to send the reciept in.  ATT is not going to respond here but only via the phone.

Bought it from an at&t store in chicago. They say it have to do with a new policy : you have to be an at&t client.
