Hi,

i have a iphone4 to getting from ebay germany one yaer ago. when i take my ouwn sim card in this iphone say this to me unlock sim. then i call aple store germany, they say to me that serial no and imea no are from at&t usa. and just you can unlock my iphone. plaese help me to anlock my iphone and writting to my email, we can i unlock my iphone.

I have an Iphone 4s i bought from a Globe store at Philippines. I just returned home here in texas and went to an apple store to unlock my phone. One of the genius' took my phone's IMEI and told me to check my email everyday. 2nd day i was approved for an unlock and i followed all instructions and still i get " The SIM card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported " in iTunes and im unable to activate it on my iPhone. Again i bought it at sampaloc SM city Manila Philippines from Globe telecoms

The refurbished phone I want to get from Newegg.com is for a friend overseas.  It is a no contract phone but is locked to AT&T.  So AT&T will unlock it?

maybe, not sure if Newegg is a Apple authorized retailer, that will be the basis on if the device will be unlocked or not

i got another email saying my iphones been reported lost or stolen.. So i went to att and they said my iphone 4s is blacklisted here in america so it's now basically a brick. I believe that philippines telecomunications buys blacklisted iphones and recycles them. Just putting that out there.. i wasted paper on a brick.

So I ordered my iPhone 5 from the ATT website on 10/07/12 and as of 10/20/12 my order is STILL backordered. I contacted my local RadioShack and they have one in stock, so I was wondering if I can cancel my online order to get it from RadioShack?

I asked the same question to customer service. According to AT&T you can, but you will have to pay full retail (not the discount you get my signing no contract) because they have already allocated a phone for you.

I ordered an iPhone 5 on 9/15, then found out it could be a month, so I called AT&T and they said that if I find a phone elsewhere, just call 800-331-0500 while I'm at the store, and they will take me off the list. Now all I have to do is find a phone.

Hello,

I have an iPhone 4 since over two years now and send an unlock request to at&t. I got an Email confirming that I am able to do so and a list of the requirered steps but after I restored it on iTunes it still says that at&t is the carrier. I live in Germany so I am not able to go to an at&t store. I had no service with my at&t card in the phone since I am back in Germany. Could that be the problem?Do I need service to restore the phone? And if how do I get an at&t card that has service since it never worked once I left the US and my 2 year contract is over?

Have you tried using a local German SIM in the phone? The whole point of unlocking a phone is to be able to use non AT&T SIMs in the phone.

Recently, with  my girlfreand vacationing in Dubai and she preasent me iphone5. Like big store. As a result, when I returned, I found that my IPhone5 locked to an operator ATT. Use a form to unlock phone, send checks, and back at me - you are not our client - goodbye! What can I do with this "brick". Ask experts to answer on what grounds I refuse to unlock, or it is illegal to buy phones in Dubai? I have not entered into any contract, paid $ 1,300, and in the end I did not have a working device. Waiting for comments ATT representatives

1,300? How?

If your girlfriend bought the iphone 5, she paid pretty much had to pay full retail for it, as long as she bought it from Apple, or a ATT authorized location she would have a reciept showing that she paid full retail for it. Get a copy of the reciept from her and go to this thread

review the terms, click I agree to get to the form to fill out, select "Not a ATT Customer", then fill out the details and get ready to fax the reciept from the purchase of the phone to them. In approximently 7 to 14 working days after they recieve the faxed bill of sale you should get a email response either telling you the phone is eligible to unlock or it is not.

This is a peer to peer forum, so mainly responses will be from customers of att, the unlock request is handled through the above link. They will unlock a iphone for a end user that is not and has not every been a customer as long as they can supply the required proof of the full retailk purchase of the device from a Apple / ATT authorized outlet - places like ebay or craiglist are not authorized resellers. If the phone was bought from there yu are pretty much out of luck

Another thing to note - if you have LTE service from your carrier, the US Iphone 5 will not connect to the LTE service, you will be on 3G speeds only. The US based phone only sees bands 4 and 17 which are US frequencies only. Apple has two other models that are not sold in the US to hit the other bands

Where exactly was the phone bought?  There are only a few authorized retailers in US that sell iPhones (Apple, AT&T, Radio Shack, Best Buy, and Walmart, I think).  eBay and Craigslist are nor authorized retailers.  If you didn't buy it new at full price from an authorized retailer, then it won't be unlocked by AT&T.

You ask how can someone sell you a locked phone?  The question is, did the person buying the phone explain that the phone was only going to be used outside the US and ask if it was unlocked before it was purchased?  Why did someone who lives outside the US and has no intention of using the phone with AT&T ever even buy a US iPhone instead of buying one in their own country?

Unfortunately, you take a risk when you buy a phone in a foreign country.  Prior research is necessary so you don't get burned.

I bought my iPhone 5 from AT&T and I needed to go to Germany for a week.

So I contacted AT&T and they said they could not unlock it until after my contract is up.

I called my friend who knows a lot about phones and he suggested that I try these guys:

And yes, I got my iPhone unlock confirmation within one day!

What a great service!

It really bothers me that AT&T refuses to do it for their clients and some third party company just does it for a real small fee.

I guess AT&T isn't looking for ways to make their customers happy. Oh, well...

If it fulfills the requirements it will be unlocked, if not at least you still have a ipod

unlock after confirmation from AT & T, iphone restored through ituns. After restoring the iPhone can not activate my sim operator. Ituns just can not recognize the iPhone. Rang the Apple support, they said that my iPhone has been replaced, although it was used all the time. Told you to call due to which was locked iPhone. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding and my serial number has been identified as a replacement. Possible to fix it?

given what you are explaining, you will not be able to unlocked it. If you are not a customer of ATT the requirement that the device be purchased form a authorzied retailer for full retail price woudl apply. If the phone works in South Africa then it is already unlocked, are you sur this is a att phone and not a verizon or a sprint one - they are two different devices, att is gsm, verizon and sprint are cdma but have a sim slot

The phone is not necessarily unlocked already but since it does work in South Africa, it is definitely not locked to AT&T. It is possible the phone is locked to the South African carrier in which case OP would need to contact them to get unlocked. If, on the other hand, it was originally bought as a Sprint or Verizon phone, then the GSM side was most likely unlocked by them. In other words, the reasons for the phone not working in other locations may have nothing to do with being locked. Perhaps the phone is just not compatible with other networks.

Wingrider, Apple only made one model of the 4s. Regardless of where you got it, every 4s has both the gsm and cdma radios in it.
