Thanks for your kind information Mr Vikod.
unfortunately there is no way to get the reciept to me.
Unfortunately without the reciept shownig it was prucased from a authorized retailer and for full retail price the unlock request will not be processed
I think the receipt is based on a case by case basis, as I purchased my White iPhone 4S New from eBay 2 weeks ago and had it unlocked by AT&T last week. The rep. never asked for a receipt. I think the reason being that I am out of contract with AT&T is the reason why they did it that way in my case.
If you are a current or past cutomer of att then a reciept is not needed, if you select the "Non-Customer" button inthe unlock for request, down at the bottom you get a required drop down box, there are 3 choices
1. Apple store
2. AT&T Store
3. AT&T authorized retailer
Ebay and personal sale is not listed in the drop down box, it is a required box and you are unable to submit the form, if you select current or past customer, the point of sale requirmen does not show up, there are a different set of mandatory responses
I beoeive you are a current customer if att and not someone that purchase dit from ebay and have never been a customer of att. If you read the general requirements it specifily states the eligibility requirements, outside of the current past customer section there is a line that states
"(ii) a person who purchased the iPhone from an authorized location at the "no commitment" price and can provide proof of purchase."

without a receipt and not being a AT&T customer I doubt you'll get the unlock from AT&T. You might want to look into some of the 3rd party iPhone unlock services that are out there. You'll get your iPhone unlocked faster without having to wait too long.

Thank you Irish Rose,
But there are many scammers around the internet. Do you have any idea about who is originally providing Unlock solution?

I am not sure that I understand what you're asking here. If your iPhone is locked to AT&T, that is who you would have to go through to get it unlocked if you meet their requirements and don't want to use a third party unlock service.

It appears that all unlock requestes must now be entered via the Web. I was told today that agents are no longer able to process unlock requests by telephone. The web site is:

We really need to just start pointing these unlock requests to the sticky at the top of the forum.

I am very interesting in this ‘In addition, AT&T will unlock an iPhone for: (I) an active and deployed member of the military who is a current AT&T customer in good standing and is able to provide AT&T with deployment verification." I am in the military and I will be deploying sometimes this year, am I eligible to get my phone unlock and if I do what kind of verification do I need to provide, will a memo from my commander be sufficed? I know in the message it said "deployed member" but it sounded kind of silly, if I am deployed to Afghanistan how would I contact you in the middle of nowhere to try to get my phone unlock.

Does the online tool you linked to have the "military deployment" exemption option?

Ask ATT it is their web tool, if their developers and systems designs specialist where on the ball then it contains every single option required, if not then they need to re-evaluate their design work and analysts that designed the application. Fill out the form, call what ever works. while the exemption is listed.

The site is the first point of contact, if the option does not exist or the ability to put notes in the request then your only choice is to call them - you can pretty much assume they will want a copy of your delpoyment orders as verification

But you're the one who answered the person's question. He asked a specific question and you posted a link to simply fill out the form without knowing whether that link is appropriate for his situation or not. Seems like it's not, but no other possible solution was given.

Yes, but you need to be a "Current" customer. If you are, select that option, continue and provide the appropriate info where indicated.
If you are not a current customer, this option is not available to you.
The process is very clear and simple. Please do not reply about exceptions to or the fairness of this policy. It is what it is.

I was trying to get clarification of the wording of this policy, so I can proceed to apply for unlock if I'm eligible instead of wasting everyone's time, not trying to ask for any exception. The link that was provided did not have any additional information to my question, and it was pretty useless, I thank you for trying to help me, but you should click that link first before directing me to a dead end.

first step was to check the website to see if the form works for what you needed, the next would be to call them and be ready to supply them with the documentation required - at minimum a copy of your deployment orders, from the wording it appears that you should be able to unlock the phone with out having to fullfill the other reequirements. The link was not a dead end, but it was the first place to check.

I remember beginning this thread when one of my iPhones was unlocked before AT&T announced their plan to unlock certain iPhones. Some people on this forum said "impossible" AT&T will never unlock phones and that I was full of you know what..
Today, the remainder of my iPhones came off contract and are now unlocked, I will be leaving AT&T for Verizon.
AT&T has no coverage in a town where I now spend a lot of time, Verizon has 4g coverage in the entire county. AT&T has been unwilling to even hint when (if) they will do something here, even 3G sould be OK. They do have Edge coverage a few miles from here but it's worse then nothing, it makes you "think" you can get your e-mail - then it just hangs.
So, after being an AT&T customer for many years it's time to say goodbye.

Hey guys, got a question. So I'm trying to unlock my iphone 4. I bought it at Wal-mart. I don't have an AT&T wireless number or anything like that. So I went to the webpage through which you begin the unlocking process. I faxed a copy of the receipt with the request number and my IMEI. First time I got an email saying they didn't get the documentation. Second time apparently they got it, but I got an email saying that the place where I purchased my iphone isn't an authorized retailer. It's Wal-Mart for God's sake!!!! What am I supposed to do?

Since no one has one no one knows for sure. Past history says with other non iPhones, you have to wait a few months into your contract. What they will do with the iPhone 5 is unkown but I would not be surprised to see it stay locked for the first 12 to 18 months?

I just called AT&T customer care the representative said I will have to wait 2 years until my contract is over to get an unlock code for iPhone 5. Not sure if that's true or she just said it though.
