I ordered mine on Oct12 but i got tired of waiting. I checked online at radio shack and bestbuy. They both had some at different locations. I called around and found a few at radio shack.. It took awhile but i found one 20 miles away.. I suggest checking stores that dont have online ordering cause they get phones weekly...

I ordered both 16GB and 32 GB iPhone 5 (Black) on October 1st.  Both orders were processed on the same day and both are still on backorder.  I will post updates on this forum.  Thanks!

I'm without a phone all together. I lost my iphone 4 and had to use my upgrade so why not upgrade to the 5?  so now I regret it because it's such a waiting game...but it does make me feel like I'm not alone and the only one wanting their phone but I'm just without a phone at all and it's killin me!  had to call premier and speak to a supervisor in order for them to submitt my order so today 10/22 is my official order date (even though i ordered it on 10/20 on the website) well, looks like I'll be here until Thanksgiving and my bday 12/2 lol

already did, they're just as bad, if not worse.   In today's technology, this lack of communication,  their own business, supplly chain, demand chain, and customer expectations, is absolutely archaic

Well, I'll go ahead and share my story with you guys.

I am now waiting for two 32 gb iphone 5's for the SECOND time.  

A few weeks ago, the wifey and I decided to move our service to Verizon because they are rated the highest by consumer reports.  Well, this was a bad idea.  We only waited about 10 days for our phones to come, which wasn't bad at all.  However, apparently we live in a coverage black hole where Verizon signal goes to die.  After 3 days of dropped calls and voicemails popping up on the phone when it never rang, we returned the phones to the Verizon store.  I called AT&T and ported our numbers back and reactivated our old iphones.

When I did the port back in, I went ahead and ordered two more iphones (a white 32gb and a black 32gb).  So, we are waiting, again.  It really sucks to have already had the device in my hand for a few days and then have to give it up only to be stuck waiting again.  I am using a 3GS which after the ios 6 update runs excruciatingly slow.  

Glad I found this thread....I will surely return for emotional support.

when i ordered mine on the 1st you could go to the apple store and buy a sprint version. Kinda says something about the demand on sprint

if you look at the preorder thread it shows that they are taking the 28th of sep of backorder, yesterday was the 27th, as we get further away from the actual preorder and less phones were ordered it should get faster, frankly i am sure that apple has lost a lot of sales due to the wait, not everybody is patient enough to wait a month for a phone.

Here's my story: I ordered a white 16gig iPhone 5 and a white 8gig iPhone 4 on 10/11. As soon as I signed my terms and conditions,I remembered that Sam's Club has cell phones. Guess who had all colors and gigs for ATT? You guessed it: Sam's Club! I tried to get ATT to cancel my order,but I wasn't successful. I feel like such an dummy for not checking with Sam's club,because now they only have it for Sprint.

However,that's not the worst part. I understand that I'll have to wait for my iPhone 5. The messed up part is that ATT never told me that the iPhone 4 is on backorder as well. That's a warning to anyone thinking about getting an iPhone 4 because it's 99 cents.

I'm one of those in queue since 10/03 who ordered a 32G /black from my local AT & T store.  It still shows up as pending and on back order.  I know it says 14 to 21 business days, (I was hoping they had figured that 14 - 21 days in "dog years")  so I'm trying to be patient   I'm sure you all understand that.  I checked with the local Apple store a few days ago and they seem to be having the same slow trickle of phones to complete their orders.  They did have a selection of Sprint phones but absolutely no AT & T.   So... I'll continue to check out the posts here and get some amusement and support while we all wait together.

Ordered Oct. 1. 32 gig black.  From apple website.  AT&T site still says BO but apple website said preping to ship last night and this morning I have a tracking number.  I still have to wait until the 29th! Its on the other side of the world right now.  Been quite a wait because of the week it took to even get my phone ordered (due to AT&T) and the fact that I sold my Iphone 4 to pay for my upgrade. So I have been without a phone since the last week of Sept.  Maybe I'll appreciate my new phone a little more because of it.  The info here has been very helpful.  Y'all enjoy your new phones!

Been watching this thread for a while now. Just wanted to let everyone know, Im an october 17th order date,  16 gig black

I just got off the phone with a very helpful AT&T rep (surprising, i know) and she confirmed that my phone will ship somewhere between

NOVEMBER 6th-NOVEMBER 15th !!!

not as bad as i thought! Im glad she was able to give me a date unlike any other rep ive called before, i dont know why shes the only one that knew this because ive called multiple times and 14-21 days from processing date was the only answer ive gotten.

Ordered on October 10th after many calls and bumping up my eligebility date was slated for 11.-18-2012 and got it to 10-10-2012, accepted terms right away.

It was a White 16GB now I wish I should of gotten the 64gb but I have a 64GB Ipad so I did not think I would need the space on my phone.  

I have a iphone 3gs so glad I did not sell it, acutally going to give it to my daugher so she can play with apps and music without the phone function.

Now as everyone else just gonna wait, for me its no rush, don't get me wrong I want it, already bought a bear lether case for it that came last week and its sitting there waiting for my phone, lol.  IN general i am a very willing to wait, I am a cubs fan after all!

It is likely true that AT&T doesn't have a link into Foxconn/Apple distribution information.  They do, however, have a vast amount of data on AT&T orders that have been fulfilled, so they definitely know which order dates are currently receiving orders.  Therefore, they should be able to provide info like: "at the present time, 64GB white phones are taking 4 business days to fulfill, while 16 GB black phones are taking 21 business days".  Simply using the max time for any of the 6 devices (3 storage sizes by 2 colors) is absurd, unless fulfillment is being managed to make all equal (which we know isn't true becuase 64 GB black appear to have a 1-2 day fulfillment time).

They can;t put a number on somethying that they have no idea of, stop and think it through logically with all the steps required to track something through multiple continents, multiple carriers and handlers. If they put a quantative estimate on a roder the screams of fraud and att sucks would be ten fold. Besides " have a vast amount of data on AT&T orders that have been fulfilled" means nothing, ever hear of delays due to nature, to many vairables to apply a statistics evaluation to a hypothetical senario, SWAG just doesn't work. Look at the screams that are happening when they peopoe get tols 14 - 21 working days

 

Don;t feel bad, the ones I ordered for corporate from verizon are eta's as 11/21, when they come they come, the delievery of the new toys are not in any way a critical senario.

I orderer a 64GB Black iPhone yesterday evening and i just got an email saying it is shipped and will get delivered by thursday. 64GB is definitely getting shipped within 24 hours.

Yet, they are able to know exactly when to bill for the money due?  Think of it logically.  They have highly sophisticate systems that can definitely track when delivery occurs (Fedex and UPS both have systems that allow large shippers to have up to the minute info on their shipping) and they are using that info to bill.  That same info can easily be provided to CS, even if it's just info from the prior day (i.e., it doesn't have to be up to the minute).  I'd wager that someone in AT&T gets daily updates on the status of back orders (i.e., which order dates are coming off back order, for each device).  In the end, I'm not suggesting anything that doesn't already exist.  I'm simply suggesting that they make it available to CS or even to a website.

exactly.   You'd be surprised at how much data exists for even a single iphone and it's sub components.   I'm not asking to go as far as being able to track it thru the assembly line.   Look at FedEx, UPS, DHL,  Amazon,  newegg, WalMart, and others that know much more about their demand and supply than just a few million iphones.    And they use that data to manage their suppliers.  I don't think many people understand how much levererage these companies have with their suppliers, just by understanding their business.

guys...take a look at the other pre order thread.....thy have gone through 8 days of orders in just 4 days....some people are posting orderes placed on the 29th coming off BO...32gigs are now the ones that are falling behind a little but the black and white 16gig's are definetley moving much faster than last week....16gig black
