Now I'm getting concerned. Placed my order online through AT&T (Premier) at 725am central on 10/7. Got the "AT&T Premier Order Received" immediately. When I check the order status through the Premier link provided in the email, it says date ordered: Oct 7, 2011, status is pre-order, Last updated 10/10/11.

If I log into my AT&T account and go to My Orders, the order number is different (because of the different system), date ordered 10/10/11 shipment status: Backordered, Item status: Processing.

I realize AT&T processed an enormous amount of orders on that day, but what is taking so long for my status to update? I've seen others on the board that ordered just after me that have their tracking numbers/email updates from AT&T. I do see my contract date has been reset to 101011 - 101013. so I guess that's a good sign???

i ordered at the store in knoxville tn and my receipt is timed for 947 am.. of course i was in there by 915 id say... the system crashed first go around and they had to redo my order...

To all of those people that pre-ordered the first day. Last year, with the iphone 4, I pre-ordered the first day in the early afternoon. My status showed "pending shipment" all the way into the evening of the day before release. Then, it finally showed shipped with a tracking number that night and got it the next day. So, just because you don't show shipping yet, doesn't mean you won't get it tomorrow. Obviously, there will be some sort of cutoff. You just don't know where that cutoff will be. My 4s order still shows "pending shipment". This year, I ordered at the AT&T store at about 6 pm eastern. Unfortunately, I had to order in store and wait until I got off of work that day.

alot of people online that ordered directly through apple had shipment notification WAY before the ATT based orders.... I dont understand why theres a difference? Customer service i guess?

I have a feeling that I did not make the first shipment this year, being that I had to wait to get off of work. Last year, I got my order in quite a few hours earlier and AT&T was the only U.S. carrier, so the numbers were not as high. I keep hearing that if you got your order in by 5:30 pm eastern that it will ship today. My order went through somewhere between 6:15-6:30

I am trying to patiently wait until tonight and check my order status to hopefully see a "shipped" notification. Who knows?

Has anyone who ordered at a physical AT&T store gotten shipping confirmation? I ordered mine at 11am on the 7th at an AT&T store, and got an order confirmation at noon. My order still says backordered. Anybody else have this?

@Nskk. I also ordered at the AT&T store and mine shows "backordered" and "pending shipment". But, I didn't get my order in until about 6:15-6:30 eastern. I had upgraded to the Samsung GS2 and didn't like it. So, I had to wait to return it and re-upgrade. If I wouldn't have tried that dam*ed GS2, then I could have ordered it online and anytime I wanted. Oh well. Sh** happens.

Mine was in Memphis in at 1am and is now in transit to another UPS facility, I assume in my city. It's funny because I received the shipping email yesterday and am JUST NOW receiving the email that my order was processed. In fact, the email I just got says "pending shipment". Goes to show the effect this preorder had on ATT.

I ordered 2 phones about 2 hour apart at the AT&T across the street from my job. The first was at 9:30. The first one has shipped status while the second is still showing backordered. Both initially showed as pending charges on my bank account and now both charges are gone. My guess is once shipped the charges will come back through. Since both are gone and one not still pending, my hope is both will be shipping.

Nope. I ordered at like 10:30 pm and mine is scheduled to arrive by 3pm tomorrow. Ordered through upgrade app on iPhone. I am a Premier account.

Same deal with mine. Was "in progress" as of 1:30am last night. Checked again this morning and there was a tracking and been changed to shipped. Via Fed Ex , scheduled to be delivered by 3pm tomorrow with standard overnight.

I pre-ordered mine on Friday morning directly through AT&T and when I checked my status this morning, it still shows the phone as "pre-ordered" and not yet "shipped". The original e-mail I got said it was scheduled for delivery on 10/14 so I'm just hoping this means it will be Next Day Aired to me.

I ordered mine from AT&T Friday at 11:00 AM and mine showed backorderd from the very first email from AT&T. Just this morning I got email from AT&T that is my shipping conformation from FedEx. Says it is in Fort Worth (5 hours away) and will deliver tomorrow. I'm a happy girl

AT&T system just sucks or was overloaded...

I ordered mine on 10/7 at 12 and mine is currently backordered...heres what really bugs me about this..you could not do anything, no preorders, and walk in the store tomorrow morning when it opens and pick up the 4s..yet the peorders get backordered and wont be shipped until next week probably. I made that point very clear to my rep and hes trying to work with me to possibly get it in the store tomorrow

Additional info:

Obviously not getting my phone tomorrow, as no charge on cc and no shipping info, so called AT&T. Was told that "warehouse doesn't have them yet, they will be there today and ship tomorrow", meaning it will ship on Friday.

Bummer. AT&T probably has mulitple regional warehouses from which they can ship stock, so that's why some people are getting them and some aren't.

Just got off the phone with the store I ordered from...
The guy said "Since it's so far into the process, you won't be able to cancel the order and pick one up from a store, you'd have to wait until it ships and then return it..."
Clearly I took two Aleve upon hanging up the phone...

Since orders havent shipped and our cards have not been charged yet, wouldnt you think there is a way to cancel our orders and preorder the phone to the store and just get one for tomorrow? doesnt make any sense to me
