I purchased the new iPad and the Elevate hotspot from Best Buy and it has not been smooth sailing. While the Elevate allows my laptop, iPhone4S and iPad to connect to it, the iPad can not surf the internet for more than 2 seconds(just enough time for one web page). And the other devices can surf freely and easily. Even when the iPad is the only device on the hotspot, there is still not internet access. But when I connect my iPad to my home wireless network no issues at all.
Now here is where the fun begins. I called AT&T for help and they sent me back to Best Buy to swap out the Elevate. Brought the new Elevate home and guess what?? Yep 2nd verse is the same as the first. So I call AT&T back and the troubleshooting continues, basically all the same steps they ran me through prior to the swap out. They then direct me to call Sierra Wireless the maker of the Elevate. I did that today only to be told that I can not be help by them directly without AT&T first sending my phone call to them. Again I call back AT&T, explain what I was told and then am transferred to Sierra Wireless via AT&T. Once I am officially allowed now to be helped by Sierra Wireless, I begin to retell my story of what is happening with their product. And here is the official response, "Sorry but we don't have the New iPad here to test it on the Elevate. We will have to call you back once we do." and that was the end of the call.
Are you kidding me?!?! How can a mobile wireless technology manufacturer not be privy to the next iPad model or at least it's specs. I even contacted Apple and the person there was very confused as to why I was having connection issues if the iPad worked flawless with my home network. I do not blame AT&T for the issues I am having at all. I am putting the blame on Sierra Wireless for not only the lack of forward preparation, but also the complete lack of customer service. Not once was empathy shown towards me the consumer.

Not sure why but sounds like they have a firmware update coming because it should not matter.

I have no problems using my iPad 2 with the Elevate. In fact, I've connected 3 different iPad 2s with no issues. I did change the SSID and password on the Elevate, other than that, I believe everything is stock.

With mine I've found by experimentation that if I turn security settings off in Elevate and in the setup for Elevate in iPad, it works fine. This however is not required for my phone or laptop (and believe need security enabled!). Has anyone gotten these 2 to communicate with security enabled? Any other help?
