Hello everyone,
Here is a heads up and I hope someone has a possible solution.
I have a iPad, iPhone 3GS & a iPhone 4S all running on iOS5 an they are all having email issues with my att.net accounts but not my gmail account. All worked fine on my iPad and 3GS before upgrading to iOS5.
When the Yahoo server pushes the emails to my devices it shows new with a blue dot for about 3-5 sec. then switches the emails as read. I don't get any notifications or icon badge counts. I opened my att email account and had 28 new emails that were marked as read. I have no problem with my gmail account.
I spent 2 1/2 hrs at the local Apple Store trouble shooting the problem before we figured out it was the Yahoo server. we deleted the att accounts and set them up again, reset my iPhone 4S to factory settings totally wiped out the iPhone and nothing corrected the problem. We also called Apple tech support, no one had heard of this problem or had a solution.
What finally seems to work on my iPhone but not sure it is the right solution is the following.
Deleted the acccounts and then setup the att accounts by going to the setup accounts area and setup as "other" not as Yahoo account. I had to put in outgoing / incoming servers, ports and other information. Doing this does not give me the options to sync mail, calendars, notes etc.
Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas? the ATT store said it should work by using the Yahoo settings just like before.
Thanks,

I am having same issues getting att.net email addresses set up on an iPad 2, running IOS5, and Apple Mail.
Following advice from this post am NOT setting up as Yahoo addresses using the wizard. Choosing "other". It defaults to setting it up as IMAP. So in order to get it to go to POP settings, have been turning it to AIRPLANE mode, so that it can't automatically check the settings. This allows you to CHOOSE POP over IMAP. (As in these posts: (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2794179?start
But still have not been able to get the settings to work, even though I've simply been copying the server settings from the set up on the desktop computer (Thunderbird on Windows 7 and XP).
For incoming servers, I"ve tried:
fpostoffice.isp.att.net
ipostoffice.att.net
pop.att.yahoo.com
inbound.att.net (saw update that AT&T had updated their servers to this, but the pop.att.yahoo.net is still working on the desktops) (http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB4015
and always had it set to SSL and Port 995
for OUTGOING servers, I've tried:
fhostmail.isp.att.net
imailhost.att.net
smtp.att.yahoo.com
outbound.att.net (saw update that AT&T had updated their servers to this, but the pop.att.yahoo.net is still working on the desktops)
and set the OUTGOING port to 465.
And have got nothing.
AT&T's support page for setting up email on the IPad has screenshots, but it shows the setup for a GMAIL address. NOT the settings for ATT.NET email addresses, so has not been very helpful.
Thanks in Advance!
Jehosfat
