When will the pre-ordered iPhone 5 ship?

You can cancel it. You just new to speak to the right department the number with all the 4 in it on the page or two pages before this. It took me 5 phone calls till they Cancelled it. Not too many reps know and they are told they can't. It can be done. I've done it !!

Every time I check my order status it says pending shipment. I see people posting their order status screens that say backordered "1" or "0". My order status screen doesn't even have that column! How can I tell if it's backordered or not?

I sure hope so. I called my local AT&T store and they said the haven't got another shipment in since the very first week, and they don't anticipate getting any more in.  Yet I have friends going into their Verizon store and picking one up. You would think AT&T would get the shipments in first. So I have to wait a possible two or three more weeks, and they get to pick theirs up today!

got it canceled on the first call. The lady CS was vey nice and canceled it for me right away after I asked. How lucky I am. So i suggest people try to cancel their preorders by calling 8663910749 and then go to apple.com between 10pm and 4am to find an iphone, order and make an appointment to pick it up on the next day. Dont give up, you can find one sooner or later! Thank everyone on this forum!

I order 2 iphone 5's both 16g on sep 21. Last update was sep 24. Still waiting and it's driving me crazy. When will I get to receive at least a new update on AT&T.

I just make a reservation online and they sent back an email told me that I can come anytime to pick up the phone. I put in my credit card info when i made the reservation but not sure they charge it or not?

I don't think that's completely true, or at least not what I was told. I was getting the same message so rang AT&T CSR. They said it can be due to system overload. After a half hour of complete uselessness and being transferred, they told me I had to ring the store I ordered it from (even though I mentioned where I placed the order at the very beginning) because the store wasn't AT&T, which is complete rubbish as it's a company store, not a contracting retail store. CSR couldn't see any information or help me in any way. Order numbers I received in the emails from AT&T mean nothing to them. So I rang the store and they said they can see the orders and it's processing correctly and I should hear something in a few days. I'd like to believe this is true, however the whole process of ordering these phones has been a mess from the beginning (I'm transferring from T-Mo). I guess its a really nice welcome to AT&T which doesn't give me great confidence. I never had one issue with T-Mo CSR.

BTW when I ring the number on the AT&T emails it gives me statuses, just absolutely nothing online works for me.

Went to the AT&T store today and they said that it is in que and that they are not sure why I got the error message. However, the shipping date estimate is from the 17th-26th. So thats a 4-5 and a half week wait, not a 2-3! Just a warning for all that order online...

  I went through the same thing as you...and I would bet money you are not in line to get a phone....  Here is how it works

Order Placed On Line or Over the Phone - You get an email indicating 14-21 business days....  the email normally has a conf number that begins with a NUMBER...both are meaningless.... Normally there is a page on the email you can check your status..Equal useless...  If you order over the phone you will get an email with the terms...nothing happens until this is returned...

Order gets processed - Could be immediate or take 7 plus days, especially if porting a number..Once processed your order will be viewable on this website..  You should also get an email with a NEW order number that begins with a letter...

The order date that shows up here is your ACTUAL order date and the day you are put in line to get an iphone.  The day you get your phone according to ATT is 14-21 days from this point...not the date of the original email(unless they are the same).

If it does not show up on this link you will not get a phone more likely you will receive an email your order is cancelled.  I was told by 3 reps on the phone the same info as you and it delayed my order date by 7 days(ordered 9/14 processed 9/21)...if you read the posts they are shipping orders who processed on 9/20 currently.  A manager was able to put me in line finally and my order showed up instantly on the above page...

Good Luck to you...  I also got $35 credit..I have heard some folks getting $100....

Also the orders ARE shipped in the order they are processed, the confusion comes from people who ORDER after you getting their phone first.. If you order on 9/14 like I did but di not get processed until 9/21, anyone who ordered after me but processed by 9/20 will get their order first...
