When will the pre-ordered iPhone 5 ship?

Just spoke to another CS rep at Orders and Activations...She said that I should not have been refused cancellation of my order on the 21st, like I was and I was denied by two different CS reps.  ATT's reps are all over the board, handing out information whether it's true or not.  As I said, on of the reps even lied to me and told me my i5 was "in the mail", so it couldn't be cancelled.

Is there a number I can call to lodge a formal complaint about those CS reps who lied to me?

If you cancel your pre-order today, you will be kicked back another 3-4 weeks. Apple stores do not have an unlimited supply and to think that placing an order with them today will mean a pick-up tomorrow is crazy. Look at Apple's site. They are projected the same delays as the cell providers. Best to wait at this point or risk not seeing a phone until the end of October

I upgraded two of my existing lines on Apple's site the minute I was able to do so on September 14. That was a smooth transaction. But at the same time, I tried adding a brand new line to my family plan. Apple's site gave me an error message said that I would have to contact AT&T directly to add an additional  line. Reluctantly, I had to go thru AT&T's online site but the site was down.

The next morning at 7 am, the AT&T website was still giving me problems so I called instead to place my order. I was on hold for at least an hour and a half but the representative was very helpful and said that my order will still be on time to ship by September 21. I was told an email to accept the terms and conditions will be sent within 24-48 hours.  By Monday, September 17, I still did not get this email. But there was a hold on my credit card for the amount of the purchase.

I called CSR that  Monday, September 17. They stated that my order on the 14th didn't go thru. They couldn't tell me why the order did not go thru even though they were able to find a record of it. The Representative said I would have to place a brand new order, and the shipping time now is 14-21 business days. This time I got the terms and conditions acceptance email immediately because I would not get off the phone until it was sent.

My next email from AT&T on September 18 was that my order is processing and will ship within 14-21 days. I called back to check the status they said it was on back ordered, and  shipping will be the middle of October or towards the end. The funny thing is that my confirmation to accept terms and conditions from my original order on September 14, was received three days later, AFTER I had already placed another order.

I just ordered another iPhone 5 from Apple's site with an estimated ship time for the last week of October.

I figure since AT&T is at the mercy of Apple on supply, I might as well go thru Apple with an estimated ship time of late October to get a phone quicker.

Once I receive one phone, I'll cancel the other order. Wonder which company will be able to ship it to me first...

Lesson learned, next time I'm going to wait in line on launch day if I can't order thru Apple's site.

I went in on the 14th to pre-order to ensure that I kept my unlimited data plan (which was the only reason I didn't pre-order online).  I asked the CSR if I was guaranteed to get my phone on the 21st and she said that I would absolutely get my phone on the 21st because they did not sell out of their allotment.  Obviously she took my money without a delay and everything was looking like I was good to go.

The next day I received the 14-21 day email that everyone else has been getting.  I thought that wasn't right and I went to the store where I made my order and was again informed that if I did a pre-order through them that I would get the phone because they still had not sold out of their pre-order.  On the 20th I stopped by on the way home and was informed that everything should be fine.

The 21st came and went.  No phone.

I sent an email to AT&T not really expecting it to help but needed to vent.  Now they are saying it will take 21-28 days.  I can either do that or cancel and reorder.  What kind of business model is that that you have a pre-order but people who just walk in off the street buy the phones that should have been put back?  If that was the way it was going to be then why did they take my money instead of making me wait until I actually had the phone in hand?  Aggravating is not even the word to describe what this feeling is.  I know it is a phone but its more the principle of putting hard earned money down and expecting to get what you pay for when you are GUARANTEED to get it.

HOPE FOR ALL!!! I pre-ordered my IPhone5 BLK/32g a hour or so after it was first avaliable on the 14th. I was told mine would be shipped by the 21st but that didnt happen. I never got any email saying anything different so i decided to call and what they told me is that i wouldnt be getting mine until Oct. 4-15, latest. okay, whatever. what can i do besides be patient. Then yestereday around 6pm I deciced to check my order status and the backorder went to 0! Finally a glimmer of hope! I decided to call ATT last night and ask them about it, CSR then told me now that i wouldnt be getting it until Oct. 12-20th! wow, i couidnt believe it. anyway, the moral of the story is that i checked my order status agian this morning and it Shipped!!! i got its tracking number and it will be here tomorrow before 3. I got my tracking number less then 24hrs after my backorder went to 0. Hang in there!!

Hi All,

I ordered my iPhone 5 via Premier on Sept 17 @ 9:20 AM.  The status continually states "PREORDER PROCESSING" and has not updated.  I finally called the 877 # on the AT&T wireless site, and it was an automated message that stated now my device is on backorder.  I found this a little concerning since on Sept 21 Premier sent me an email stating my iPhone would ship via 14-21 days.  I'm assuming now this has been pushed back even longer?  

UGH, I want to give me old iPhone to my husband but can't do that until my phone ships..we are trying to save some money so he would not have to buy his own but this process is taking seemingly forever.

Here's an idea:

Please post here if there is a change of status of your order: backorder changed to 0, shipping flag changed, tracking # issued, any progress.

Include the order date and time. Use the order date that shows up on the order data us page. That is what AT&T seems to be using.

Maybe this way we can crowd source this information and keep track of the peogress of the order queue.

I'll start off: my order date is 11/16. Status is backordered for the 32 GB black phone.

I'm happy to say that my phone has shipped!!  Just for everyone's info; I ordered on 9/15 in the morning. The status page shows me as ordering 9/16.  My phone went off backorder this morning, is now showing that it shipped with a tracking number and, is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.

The funny thing is, I called At&t about another matter and while on the phone the rep checked my order for me. She said I probably wouldn't get it until between Oct 4 to 16. 

It does seem that when it goes off backorder that they ship it soon.

New At&t wireless service account.

I ordered Mine on Friday the 14th at 7am Central.

Order processed and sent to wearhouse on Monday the 17th.

Expected shipment timeframe: 14-21 days from processed date.

That would be October 5th-16th

Upsetting... I orderd mine so early, noon on the 14th becase my old phone is on it's last leg and the screen is cracked. I've been waiting for the release for 2 months because i didn't want to waste my upgrade on a phone that would be obsolete so soon. And now i'm waiting almost another month (2 weeks already and i'll be out of town for the next 2 weeks so even if it comes i won't have it) because of Apple and or Att's shoddy service. Very upsetting.

All these posts are making me crazy. I just ordered mine Monday. Had to wait and then had to haggle to get my early upgrade fee waived(i was eligible in Nov) so now reading these posts make me think it's never coming. I did hear that they recently changed their waiting period to 7-14 days so that gives me hope.

Everyone's preorder experience is not the same. Just because others had a bad experience with their order does not mean you will too.

My friends and I ordered 6 iphone5s (4 white and 2 black) in the att store (together) around 12pm on 15th. 

Surprisingly, the four white ones have already reached the store and the rest two black ones are still not yet shipped... 

Quite wierd, isn't it? Any similar situation?

I just want to say that I've checked the order status SO many times. the CAPTCHA codes are starting to repeat It's a sad fact.

It's funny how so many are complaining about the customer service being bad or not getting their phones on 21st as they were told, etc.

I don't know why don't you try organizing millions of orders, send notifications to people who will get the phones and to people who won't, deal with thousands of customers whining, asking about shipping, and still manage other systems than the iphone. Better yet, find out what Apple is doing about the capacities of the orders with China.

Please try doing all those in a week. \

I understand the frustration, but why can't you {keep it courteous} try to understand ATT's situation? I'm sure they're more frustrated than we are.

ATT, you also should've planned this ahead and if you aren't stupid like you are every year, you could've predicted out of stock problem way ahead. You knew how many you already have, then as soon as orders get processed and got your {word filter evasion} money, only confirm the orders as many as your stock first. Don't be just happy with all the money you will be making and confirm all of them.

Get this one! I ordered my iphone5 from work at 10:00 am on Friday 9/14. ATT has on my account I ordered it 9/16! Impossible since my co-worker stodd at my desk when I ordered it. Remember this you aren't stuck with ATT until you activate the phone. My way of saying I've had enough is to return their phone at a store and be done with ATT since my contract with them has RUN. They are the worst.... but let's face it they are all the worst. What we can do is try another company...... because now its like voting you pick the worst over the double worst. This is over the top even for ATT! Changing my order date. Then like all of you waiting with no word from ATT.

Take your contract elsewhere by the time ATT ships all carriers will have the phone. No new anymore...

I've been reading these posts for a few days, but finally became mad enough to actually post! I preordered mine around 4PM EST on 9/14. The lady on the phone told me I would get it the 21st, but sadly as of 5 minutes ago I am still showing "In process". I am a long time business customer with 17 lines open with ATT. I cannot believe it has taken this long and that non-preorder customers as well as customers ordering after the 14th are reciveing their phones. I called premier to get an update today...she said they tell everyone 14-21 days becasue they have to but really it will be sooner than that...I take that with a grain of salt. She told me to call apple for more information as they are the ones filling the orders....Until then I will be using my 2004 blackberry that doesn't allow to perform any tast except text, since ATT will not provide me a loaner phone after my iPhone was stolen a month ago...Cheers, y'all!
