When will the pre-ordered iPhone 5 ship?

Really? That's kind of crazy. I ordered mine around 1:30PM EDT on 9/14 (16GB White iPhone 5), and still have an "in progress" as the status/"pending shipment" as a tracking number.

So much for first come first serve.

My coworker who ordered a few hours after me (a 16GB Black iPhone 5) just received hers today. We both ordered from an AT&T retail store. I understood that maybe she received hers since maybe black has a lower demand than the white, but still find it kind of crazy that people who ordered it now after I did are already receiving their phones already.

This is my first time pre-ordering through AT&T, generally I order through Apple, but this will be my first and last time pre-ordering anything through AT&T. I don't mind waiting a little bit for the phone, that's fine...but when people order it after you and then you still don't have anything updating on your screen, it gets frustrating.

Anyway, my back-order status went from "1" to "0" on Friday night (9/21). So I'm hoping it will go through and actually ship tonight and get it tomorrow, or Thursday. I generally have had no problem with AT&T, and their customer service has always been nice and accomodating, but I can't help but feel annoyed that they say "first come first serve basis" when that's obviously not the case.

But if this is the second wave now ... I guess we'll see.

I am wondering the same thing too.  I pre-ordered a black 16GB Iphone 5 on Wednesday Sept. 19th.

Now, I've been reading that people who pre-ordered on the 14th still haven't received theirs. I look up from the email ATT gave me and mine still says processing. 

When will this be done and when will it have some information I can actually use to look up my order? No shipping info or anything! I'm almost tempted to cancel my order and just buy one in the store!

Its kind of crazy for those who pre ordered on the first day to not receive your phones yet. I already have my black 32GB and white 16GB like I said before I ordered on the 15th around 12 PST. If I were you guys I would go into the closest coorporate store and complain, because they do have the ability to take of a % of your bill or at least something that will make the customer happy.

I ordered mine about lunch time on the 14th.

It will be here in less then 24 hours.

I ordered a 64GB White model in the morning on the 14th.  Still nothing.  It's infuriating that people who ordered a full day AFTER me are getting theirs.  Anybody else order this model?

There is no way the Black 16GB iphone 5 is less demand than the white one.

If your friends / coworkers received theirs, i have no idea why i haven't gotten mines yet.

I order on the 14th at 8:55AM EST. Still nothing, just pending shipment status order.

@wesley101: I wasn't sure if it was or not, it was just an assumption since I did order mine before her, and she received her tracking information yesterday around 3:30PM EDT, and received her phone today while on lunch (around 1PM EDT). I honestly have no idea why you don't have yours yet, then. Like I said, though, we ordered at an AT&T store, not through online or anything (not sure if that makes a difference, really, since AT&T is just saying "first come, first serve," which is obvious bogus).

 MY Iphone5 what 16gb has arrived I got it this morning.  It was ordered on 14th Sept in the am pst by phone through the premier CSA. I assumed that when we did this that she was inputting all the information for the order, she was still on the line when the TOC email arrived and I agreed to it and sent it back. However the order was only processed on the 16th sept. However it arrived today sept 25th PST by fedex. I came in from the garden  and it was on the doorstep. (bit dodgy) I never signed for it.   

I cannot activate it though as my husband has the other phone and there is no way I am going to activate it on itunes, as it is my husbands upgrade I am using.

I want it done either by chat or phone where I can keep a record of what transpires. I have twice been burnt by Att customer service messing up my plan.

Now I have my phone, I asked myself these questions. Did I want my phone earlier? Yes !!   Did I get over it? Yes!!  Should we be offered a free case for inconvenience and to show good will ? Yes !!     Good luck to everyone else waiting.

Also what about all the aggravation and the time spent trying to get a hold of ATT for answers. And perhaps all the time spent logging in to check your shipment. Or constant hounding of the email. The inconvenience. The lies told by ATT. The lack of knowledge or support from ATT. When it is all said and done nothing will matter. ATT will be the only winner here.

Ok so just to give everyone an update... One of my two phones has been shipped and is set to be delivered tomorrow. It looks like they ship it as soon as they pull the back order status. My account said it was back ordered on both phones until Late Sunday Evening when it said that one of the two phones were no longer back ordered. I got a shipping conformation around 1:00 PM EST today and my phone is set to arrive tomorrow. So If you have seen the back order status go from 1-0 you will likely get your phone within the next 3 or 4 bushiness days. I still have a back order status on the phone I ordered in the afternoon but will again keep everyone updated. It's nice to at least see people posting and getting progress. It's also nice to figure out how AT&T's system works.

@wilm182: Thank you for that update. Mine went from the back order status of 1-0 this past Friday evening, and it's still processing. I can only hope I get something soon. I had been hearing that as soon as it gets off of back-order, they ship soon after. Since it's been two business days now, I can only hope I hear something tonight or tomorrow...

That really has nothing to do with ATT customer service.  ATT should have honored all preorders before releasing them to the store!  I completely understand if Apple has a manufacturing problem and has to push back deliveries.  What is a preorder, if not that!

It will take a few days especially given the volume of orders for the iPhone 5.  There is only so many staff members working on shipping phones.

hello i am also going through that on september 22, 2012 i ordered the iphone 4 - white and at the time i didnt know it was on back order att should have it posted on the website on what phones are on backorder it would save people alot of time but my thing still says processing and i am not happy i want my phone so im hoping it come by this saturday and if not hopefully by next week and i personally think att should have everyones phone switched to overnight shipping for free as soon as it comes to the warehouse.

Its seems ATT know nothing on my phone status. Is like I paid for it but still is not mine. 10 calls 10 diferent answers... one of them was that my phone was already delivered.....the other one that the servers were slow and my oder from 10.00 am was sent later..another the iphone was pending shippment and then it was on backorder the day later was back on pending shipment.... one of my friends preorder at 4.00 pm and he already recived his. I stil have one year in the contract and Im really thinking in getting the iphone 6 from some else.Why ....Why did you not at lease send me a text and say my PRE ORDER WAS ON BACKORDER!!!! Why!!!! you tell me epect the iphone on 21 sep. and then from 14-21 DAYS!!...Really ATT i have 10 lines and 9 of them bought  i5 and none of them are happy with the costumer service and price and now this.....really? ...now I'm thinking about net10...

I ordered via phone through the AT&T customer service on 9/14 ~6pm CST and accepted terms and condition via email right away but for some reason my order date in the order status is logged as 9/17. I'm not sure how much difference it will make in getting my iPhone 5 but is there any way I can get this corrected? I'm planning to wait patiently for this but I would like the correct order date to be recorded so that my order ships in the order it was taken with others.

Current status shows as "In Progress" and has 1 in the back-ordered column.
