OFFICIAL ATT SUCKS! iPhone5 Back order/Delay Issues

Well I pre ordered my iPhone 5 on the 14th and my order wasn't processed until 9/15 which was that Saturday day after preorders... As I wait and had the same problems on being on that backordered list.... I finally got some answers and my phone was shipped today! 9/24 expected arrival for 9/25 before 3pm est! So everyone be patient and hold tight! Ohhh another thing call AT&T and get your October months billed payed for the hassle! Worked for me!

I tried to cancel mine and so the same thing but the AT&T rep said I could not cancel. And mine is sill in processing. Said it would be oct 4th before being shipped. And I ordere on 14th at 10am

From what's been said, you are unable to cancel the pre-order at there stores. You have to actually call them by phone.

They cannot deny you the right to cancel, if the phone has NOT been shipped out. In which case you should be fine.

I totally understand that Apple is in short supply, but what iPhones ATT did get, should have gone to preorders first!  That's the purpose of a preorder!  Far as I'm concerned, they out right lied to us all and allowed us to think that we would be among the first to have the iPhone.  I've been with the "same" carrier since LA Cellular, in the 90's, but finally, think it's time to move on.  If I'm going to have to wait, I might as well wait in the Verizon line.

I was refused cancellation.  First time, the CS lied to me and told me that my iphone was in the mail, so she couldn't cancel the preorder.  Second time, I was just flat out refused cancellation because I "agreed" to the contract.

There they go again, lying to there customers.
Call them by phone, ask to cancel, if they deny your claim - ask to speak to there supervisor or manager. Then they will prompt you on your status, in which case you should have a free upgrade available once again.

If the iphone has not been shipped to you yet, you are able to cancel it.

Well, I ordered Friday, September 21, at around 9:15 pm Eastern, and got quoted 14-21 days. What is the latest someone ordered that has received a shipping notification? Thanks.

Not sure if the change on backorder status means anyrhing. Mine was changed from 1 to 0 last Friday and so far it's still "processing".  Ordered on 09/14 at noon ET. Maybe just another AT&T gimmick to make cancelations more difficult. I no longer trust this company, will change provider when contract expires.

I ordered mine on 14th around 4:30 EST i spoke to 7 people from ATT who lied one said if i ordered before 9am EST i would get it on 21st other said it will ship on 21st and i'll have it around 23rd or so.. and on 20th when my status said pending shipment i knew i wouldn't get my phone anywhere close to the date so i call ATT costumer service and was told that the only way to get my phone sooner than october is to go to store if they have the phone they'll cancel my on line order and i can get one in the store. So on 21st i stood in line for an hour and the lady from att was checking the line to see if there will be enough phones for all i wanted white 32GB which they had so after me only 3 more people could get phones before they went out of stock. I told that woman if i should call ATT and cancel my order while i wait she said no they'll do it for me, I was happy! When i got to my turn they put my phone next to regester and then the guy said " we're sorry but we can't cancel your order" i told them i spoke to costumer service and they said they'll do it for me he said no and i have no choice but to wait i even asked to let me call them myself he said i couldn't so after hour and half i left without my phone an very mad. Following day i call ATT again and asked how come they didn't cancel and let me buy phone she checked my order and said she didn't know why they didn't let me cancel it so it was their fault i didn't get my phone. She was nice and gave me direct number to them and said to call them when i get to the store. Well after that they were sold out and i'm still pending and still mad they messed up twice now and its not the end! The woman in att store said they might get more phones in stock and to try calling them. First of all they didn't aswer the phone over there and they weren't busy i checked when i walked there! they just ignored the phone and there were 3 people in the store. So once in a while i got trough , but they said they dont have any phones so i asked my Friend to stop by and ask them they told him they had 8 black 32GB left so 5 minutes later i called them and the guy told me they were sold out since friday and never gor any phones! Now i'm super mad because they lie to people who call, but not to the ones who walk in... I'm so upset over this whole thing I'm hating ATT now and i dont know to whom i should complain does anybody even care?

It seems pretty certain that ATT could care less, cause they're making $$$ for the next two years.  They know we're going to wait regardless of how they treat us.  It's just about $.

I have called AT&T 8 times now. Been to a retail store and tried the online chat. And so far no help at all from AT&T. 

They offered me to do an early upgrade on another line and they will wave the fee. The catch is I won't get that iPhone until after my first one comes in. So tat still leaves me with no iPhone.  

It it's 10pm CST and still my order is just processing. So for those who say just be patient you will get your phone soon (mostly AT&T employees) it's easy for you to say that when you at least have a ship date. 

I sill have no exact date from AT&T. This is getting out if hand.

Uhhhh no.

This isn't my first iPhone and yes I do know that they sell out fast. But when I pre-ordered my iPhone 4 back in 2010, the system was down becuase of so many pre-orders and I went at around 5pm in the afternoon, yet my iPhone still managed to get to my front door A DAY BEFORE IT WAS ON SALE IN STORES. Yes, I wasn't able to activate it until it was on sale in stores but I got it to my doorstep a full day before it available to the public. and no I do not have any "connections". So now with my iPhone 5 my order says it is processing and it's in backorder. I call this $^$%& becuase I went to the store at around 11am on 9/14. So AT&T needs to get their game together because obviously this isn't their first iPhone launch.

It was picked up from TN tonight and it will be delivered by 3pm tomorrow. So if you back ordered changed to 0, i am guessing you should get ur shipping confirmation pretty soon.

Sorry if I confused you a bit. What I meant by put aside, is the devices are not exclusively for every preorder, but its a matter of first come, first serve. In this case, the people who ordered the iPhone 5 before they sold out in 60 minutes would receive their devices first. Since you ordered it. Slightly after, you should get it when the second batch is received and shipped.

The problem with your answer, Evandela, is that it did not address the real issue with the major screw up with AT&Ts order fulfillment system. To say we all waiting because they sold out in an hour is actually wrong. I know this because I ordered my two phones at 4:30 pm pst on 9/14. I figured I had no chance of getting my phones on the 21st so I called before ordering and was told that I indeed would. I stalked my order just like everyone else and low and behold, one of my phones got a tracking number and was delivered on 9/21 at 2:30 pm pst. My other phone still says processing and I have read many other posts about people who ordered 16 hours before me still waiting for their phones too. If it was truly due to the phones being sold out, why would instill have received one of my phones?  The true cause of all of this is due to AT&T not having their stuff together to properly fulfill e orders. When I called for my phone status on the 21st, I was told they did not sell out of the stock in their warehouse for orders placed on the 21st and they were working through the huge stack of orders to get everything sent out.

well looks like some of the premeire customers of which I am one had their orders processed the next day. I did order early on as seen in my other posts. I am disappointed in ATT and would not recommend them to new users. For those still waiting on the phone I hope your staus changes soon and get your new toy.

Just to throw another tracking device in the mix, my iphone is being shipped by fedex so I went to here http://flightaware.com/live/flight/FDX1717/history/20120925/0750ZZ/KIND/KSEA  which shows the flights of fedex out of indianopolis.  

Hope to see more Iphone status changes soon for the back ordered peeps.

I ordered my Iphone 5 on September 15th in the morning and the order still says processing.  I know they were delayed due to the amount of orders yet my friend who was with me and ordered the same thing, recieved notification that his would be delivered today.  Was just wondering if anyone else who ordered on the 15th or later had recieved notification that their phone was getting mailed and/or had already gotten their phone.

Same here.  I actually ordered on the 14th in the afternoon, but guess the order didn't get placed till the 15th.  Mine is also still showing processing.  Im wondering the same thing.  Everyone that ordered in the morning of the 14th has already gotten theirs

I pre-ordered on the 14th at my local ATT store and they said it would be shipping in 7-14 days. I just called as it has been 11 days and they said it would ship between October 4th - October 15th. I pre-order to get the phone first! Not a month after everyone!!!

Am I the only one who has pre ordered on the 15th and already recieved my iPhones? If so, something has to be wrong here... I think ordering a 32 GB did actually make a difference in terms of it being shipped faster
