Anybody else having this problem? I've spent a total of 3 hours over the last couple of days with ATT trying to get it to work. I can access now by holding down the "1" key which I couldn't before, but my visual voicemail can and will not connect to my voicemail box. Below are a list of things that we have tried. If you know of anything else that I could try let me know, because at this point ATT is suggesting to replace the phone.
1. Reset Vmail Password - 4x
2. reset Network settings - 2x
3. rest all settings - 2x
4. restored phone to new - 2x
5. made sure the correct vmail number was programed into the phone (ie.. *5005*86*then the number#) - 3x
6. over the air updates to try and fix the problem.
7 removed all data services and reapplied them to see if there was a provisioning issue.
Through all this it still doesn't work, keep getting the same message: "Voicemail Unavailable, unable to connect. Try again later"

Well got tired of messing with it so went into the store and they gave me a new phone and it fixed the problem. Seems like a strange hardware issue to encounter. We even tried a new sim before we replaced it.

An alternate would be to forward it to "Google Voice" or similar forwarding voicemail service. I barely have enough signal bars where I am so I have to forward my calls to one. So I rely on a third party to collect my calls and email me when I get some calls.

Found this in Apple Forum
Call 611 and you could reset your password using their automation service. This happened to me yesterday and I reset it in about 30 seconds.

To the poster above me...thanks for posting that! I've been on the phone with ATT&T and their support specialists on and off for the last week and nothing was working. Two minutes after reading your post it was fixed. Thanks again.

I tried calling 611 and reseting the password but it still doesn't work. When I tap on voicemail it just calls my voicemail instead of going to the visual voicemail. It has never had visual voicemail even when I first got it. I didn't even know what it was until someone told me about it.
If you switch from a phone that does not have visual voice mail to one that does or the reverse you nee to call customer service and have them change a setting on your voicemail account.

THE ABOVE IS TRUE YOU MAY NOT HAVE THE VISUAL VOICEMAIL FEATURE INCLUDED WITH YOUR CURRENT DATA PLAN YOU WILL NEED TO CALL CUSTOMER CARE TO FIND OUT IF YOU HAVE THE VISUAL VOICEMAIL FEATURE PROVISIONED...

If I'm not mistaken, one of the "big box stores" (Wal-Mart or Best Buy) is well known for setting up iPhone lines wrong and disabling Visual Voice Mail on the line. If this is what has happened to you, a simple call to *611 should get that fixed for you. I remember when we moved my wife from a Blackberry to an iPhone about 3-4 years ago, she had to call them to get her VVM & her cellular data fully configured properly. She called them on her drive to work that morning, and by the time she got to work, it was all working properly.
