I was trying to pre-order the iPhone 5, but they required a deposit of 500$? I'm under 18, so I got one of my parents to order it for me, and we tried ordering under their name, credit card, and SSN. I searched online and many people are encountering this isuse when starting a new line for AT&T. The people said that they have no credit or bad credit, but my parents said that our family's credit is flawless. Is there any way I can prove that our credit is good and buy the iPhone 5 without the 500$ security deposit?
Thanks guys!

So pay the $500. They'll refund the deposit after a year of consistent payments. These are the steps to building credit, and becoming independent from your parents. I had to jump through similar hoops when I was your age, and within a few years I was getting pre-approvals for Amex Gold cards.
Better to start early.

I understand. These are the pitfalls of independence. When I was your age I got a job at a pizza chain scrubbing dishes, making $4.90 an hour... and then got a job at Staples making $8.00 an hour. The world was my oyster at that point.
I suggest gainful employment.
Living under your parents roof, your job will afford you the ability to purchase all kinds of modern luxuries...

Yeah that's the problem, I have 300$ saved up, and I have to buy the iPhone for 199$ + the tax and one time activation fee, and my parents pay for half of the bill. I dont have an extra 500$ to pay.
It is a great lesson in life. Not every price is as it appears......... Do your research and make appropriate choices!
