I have switched from an iPhone 4 to a Nokia Lumia 920, but when others with an iPhone text me, they are still sending iMessages. What do I have to do to have them send me a text message so I can receive it?
Thank you

Imessage should automaticly send as sms if the recieving number is not a iphone, unless they have the optio to d that turned off in the imessage settings

I can't say positively, but I bet you are still logged into the iMessage server (at Apple) through your old iPhone. If you logout of iMessage, then the servers won't think you can receive it that way any longer, so it should revert back to sending you SMS messages.

How can I log out of the iMessage server after I have moved over to a new phone? Do I just change the settings on the old iPhone even though it is no longer on the cell network?

Hi,
Please read this article and follow the directions. The problem you're having is common, and I don't know why Apple hasn't fixed it or doesn't make customers more aware of how to fix the problem. I hope this article helps. Please let me know if it doesn't.

I actually tried that when this first started. Since I also have an iPad, I didn't remove the iPad from the apple profile, nor did I want to. If I boot up the old iPhone and disable iMessages this seems to work. I would have thought apple to have this type of thing resolved a little better.
Thank you.

Apple does a spectacular job of interacting between all of it's products in all of it's product lines. As long as it says Apple, it works and it will be simple. Unfortunately, the rest of the world works differently. That makes some things harder when you mix Apple and non-Apple products. Like Apples and Oranges.

Have them turn iMessages off. Send a few texts back and forth.
Have them turn iMessages back on and send a text.
See if that helps.
