Is AT&T going to allow customers to how to Pre-order the I-phone 5?

The rumors indicate that the mayor apple launch is in Sep 12, when can I purchase the phone? What is the most efficient way to purchase it?

the best way is in store, if history repeats itself then online orders will be delayed and late.

AT&T's return policy has changed effective 10/07/12. You have 14 days to return the device & cxl without a ETF. Policy info HERE.

Apple will be announcing the new iPhone on Sep. 12th and you should be able to preorder it on that day for a delivery date of Sep. 21st. That said, I would preorder online from Apple as they are more reliable when it comes to delivering the iPhone on time. I preordered my iPhone 4S in the AT&T store last year and never received an email confirmation from them, 3 days before it hit the store my order was still showing on backorder as were many others who ordered from AT&T..... I will definitely be going through Apple this year for the new iPhone.

I would also recommend pre-ordering from Apple. I did with the 4s and had no problems what so ever! Mine was delivered on time.

Apple will announce when preorders will start. It should be the same for both AT&T and Apple.

I ordered both my iPhone 4 and 4S online through AT&T Premier and had no problems with either order. If you decide to order from AT&T, I would do it online, not through a store.

I think this may be the case further on after the launch, but I believe there will be plenty at first just as there was last year.

which is why last couple of year shortly after the release there was a over abundance of messages posted yelling about "where's my iphone", "why is my iphone order flagged as backordered, i ordered it at 12:01:00:0001 on the website" Given the history, the chancesof shorages and immediate backorders are very high. Wonder what the veags bookies will put the odds at.

Last year there were more iPhones stocked in the stores. Many people like me who canceled our preorder due to the backorder status were able to walk into AT&T on launch day and pick up the iPhone without waiting in line even. I had to work that day last year and wasn't able to get to an AT&T store till 4pm on the day of the launch. I was still able to get one as they had 2 left and one of them was the 64GB model that I wanted... Also, from reading various Apple forums, people that ordered dirrectly from Apple rather than their service provider were having more luck getting their iPhone 4S on the date that it was promised.

btw im stuck with my 4S till end of next year but I will be opting for the 5 Sporty version

looking forward to ur comments when u get this new 5 anyway

Well put...and I ordered the Iphone 4 thru ATT at 2am central time the year before and through ATT with the 4S last year and had no problems...I got both before 3am however. Sounds like people that got up at 6am to do it got the backorders, maybe?

*** If you want one bad enough you will setup 2 computers and begin refreshing both the Apple and ATT page 10-15 minutes before they go on sale....

Usually Apple ties into the carrier's servers and your get the same plan options as you would if you ordered online from AT&T. The big question is whether AT&T will still allow unlimited data if the new iPhone is LTE.

Last upgrade I did, I had an issue and my data plan got changed when I wen to Apple. I checked my account right after the purchase then headed straight for an ATT store to have it corrected ASAP. The trick to getting an error corrected is to have ATT address it right away. Fortunately my Apple store and ATT corporate store are in the same wing of our mall.

You can have smooth sailing or rough waters no matter how you do it.

As already stated in this thread, some had problems ordering from Apple while others had problems going through AT&T. I ordered direct from Apple 7 hours after the pre-orders started, and had no problems at all. The order went through smooth and the phone was delivered to my door when promised. No backorder, no cancellation, no problems at all. Unless you count my son constantly hounding me about when his phone would get there...

Yeah I agree...I guaruntee there will be problems with pre-orders, especially with AT&T

Best bet is to preorder at Apple, Amazon, or go in store

I just noticed when I try it through Apple, It charges me the 36 act fee but through att premier it says no fee. Did a dry run with the 4s but cancelled it out, unlim plan shows on both sites.

Until they make the official announcement regarding pricing, you won't see any changes on the websites. The fact that unlimited data is still available right now doesn't mean it still will be an option tomorrow.

Let me answer a question before it is asked: No one knows what time AT&T will begin accepting online orders.

In the past, it was not at midnight.

If pre-ordering does start at midnight, remember that's probably 12am Pacific Time. I remember for the 4, the preorder started at 4am Eastern.

I am missing the statement where they say it can be retained, don;t see the word unlimited in there at all, but people are going to be disappointed that the 21st is when they can order. The way it is worded it can be either way.
