Hello everybody, I have a question to ask.
Yesterday, I purchased a new black iPhone 5 from a AT&T Retail Store. In less than 24 hours, the lock button had gotten stuck and I went to a Apple Genius Bar to get a replacement. However, they informed me that if I did indeed replace it, I would be getting not a new one but a refurbished one. I declined.
I was wondering if I could exchange the phone for a new one at AT&T. I would be happy to pay the restocking fee, but I was wondering if they allowed me to since they do have a 14 day return window, but I'm not sure if they would deny me and tell me to return to Apple.
The reason I'm asking is because I specifically bought a new iPhone for a reason and not a refurbished one because I've had problems with refurbished phones in the past.

You can try returning it to the store where you originally purchased it, but they may not take it. Typically once you leave the store, AT&T will say that any support has to be handled by Apple.
No guarantees, but it's worth a shot.

Since it's not even been three months, a refurbished replacement is probably one that someone opened and didn't like.

If someone places a refurbished iPhone next to a brand new iPhone, you wouldn't even know the difference but AT&T should let you return it and pay the restocking fee
I think a requirement for returning a phone is that it is undamaged. Wouldn't a broken lock button be considered damaged?. Warranty replacement may be the only option.
