I did activation through iTunes, I have been waiting almost 24hrs for 2 iPhones to activate.
AT&T rep told me to wait.
This is ridiculous!
One of my older phones has no service now, wiating for the activation on new phone.
Anyone else having the same problem?

Restart the phone by either powering it off and back on or by holding both the power & home buttons at the same time for 10 second until you see the Apple logo.
If that doesn't work after a little while, you can try stopping by an ATT store and have them change your SIM card.

I do not think you can take the posts in the forum as typical. I preordered my iPhone on the 14th, received it on the 21st. I didn't have any scratches or dents. I was able to activate it and it connected properly. I have LTE when I am not using wifi. It does everything I expected the iPhone to do. I am satisfied.

iPhone 5 sucks to many problems glad I am waiting to get one!!
Thats kinda of a misguided statement for this topic. The activation is not an issue with the iPhone 5 itself. In reality there are few issues with the hardware itself (ie some were scractched/scuffed from the factory). But this version has had less people complaining of issues.
Now was the preordering jacked? Heck yea but that's not a device issue. And that has happened every launch
Was the activation process jacked? Yes, but tagain, not a device issue and has happened about every launch.

Ok my bad then. Is the ihpone 5 good. Faster look better? Because of a bigger screen?
From all my iPhones that I've owned (all but the original), in my opinion this is by far the best one both physical and technological. Here are a few of the things I'm liking.
Screen size: I thinnk they hit the sweet spot on this one. Taller to meet the 16:9 format but not so huge it makes it harder to use one handed. I like the extra row of icons. The only downside right now is not all app take advantage of the extra height.
In cell touch technoloy in the LCD: No more seperate digitizer plate. reduces size and weight.
A6 processor: Twice as fast as previous. A new direction for Apple as this is their own ARM design. Not a reuse like previous Cortex designs. This give them control to costomize for their exact need speed vs power draw where off the shelf Cortex was a generic design so it could be used in multiple applications.
Aluminum case: While more easily marred that the previous glass; tests indicate the new design holds up far better than previous models when dropped. No back glass and the front no longer has the digitizer.
Thinner and ligher.
Double the RAM.
LTE: Downside you need to be in an area with LTE to take advantage of it.
Better camera: Better low light capability, better lens, faster capture , better stabilization. HD Facetime.
Headphone Jack on the bottom: Some people hate the idea but I welcome it. When having the headphone on and using the device the cord isn't draped over the top of the phone getting in my way or of hands or screen. Also more natural when putting the device in and taking it out of your pocket. Natually comes out in the correct position of your hand for use.
New cable. This is a real issue for some people and I uderstand, expecially when you have a lot of third party accessories. For me I don't have any so the new cable was not an issue. But I do like how easy it is to connect the cable now. No right side wrong side anymore. While a mini-USB would have been nice, it wouldn't have been as easy as this.

Planet Ed you need to go and have a look at the apple discussions on the apple site, there's thread there with ppl moaning about terrible battery life on the iPhone 5 lol
There's a thread on the Apple forums about how bad the battery life is on the new iPhone after every release. While some people may get a bad battery, I think a lot of the problems are people playing a lot with their new toy, or setup issues where apps are always open and doing things in the background that the owner isn't aware of. I haven't seen noticed that the battery life on my 5 is lower than it was on my 4S.

I think you hit it on the head. All these location aware apps use that GPS chip that draws more power than the previous iteration. There may very well be a battery problem that is usually fixed in a maintenance release but I do believe a lot if this is related to the new features.

LOL since this thread has already been hijacked, I'll put in my two cents worth regarding location-aware apps/services and battery life--personally, I went into settings and turned off location services for those apps that I don't need or care whether they can provide me info based on where I am.
