Tues, Jan 17- There are so few comments on the Samsung Glide, so I thought I would add my experiences from tonight.
I was using my Glide, when I got a message that I had an update available. I clicked on the appropriate link, and was informed that I needed to be connected to "WiFi." So, I went to Settings>Wireless and network>Wi-Fi Settings, and connected to my home router (used for my dsl for my laptop). Then I started the download, and things went smoothly.
My phone was automatically turned off, then rebooted...went through another step, and the upgrade was successful.
Since my wife also has a Glide, I turned her phone on, and went through the same exact procedure, as listed above...and also got the same messages at each step of the way. Both phones were updated, apparently with no problems thus far.
We sent emails back and forth, logged onto the internet, etc., and everything seems okay.
Both phones now have Android Version 2.3.6 . My baseland version is 1927UCKL1, and the kernel version is 18.104.22.168
The build number is GINGERBREAD.UCKL1
I am located in the United States, so my comments may not be directly applicable to any problems in Egypt. I do know that you definitely have to be connected to your Wifi, for the software update to work.
On another note, since this phone is relatively new, I think it would be great if more Glide owners would post any experiences or problems that they have had with their devices. Our two are totally 'stock,' with nothing removed, and no apps have been added, as of yet.
