Have you regiestered your phone yet? Do it here. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/account/regist/S
It's in Kies mode. it asks you when you plug it in. Top option.

I registered the device weeks ago and I went back and confrimed it was registered. Did you have your in debug mode or kies mode?

Sadly, I have been quite happy with this phone. But this is really a shoddy way to run a business.

I found this,
No, if it's showing "Device cannot be updated" it means that you do not have a valid ROM. If it's showing "unregistered device", it means that you've got UCKH1 installed (the November OTA update), and that the database it's connecting to (every time you connect your phone and run Kies Mini, it asks the server it connects to whether your phone is eligible for an update) doesn't yet show your phone as eligible.

Does this mean that you did not receive the Nov OTA update to UCKH1, and therefore are eligible for this 2.3.6 update?

Yes thats exactly what it means so those of us who updated our phones like good customers once again have to wait while a small number of people who didn't get the update so I guess we will see it in another 6 months!

I read something similar in the Captivate forum. The "Unregistered user" means that the firmware version does not correspond to one for which the update is available. It goes on to say that it does not help registering at the Samsung site. I guess Samsung will have to somehow "register" the UCKH1 firmware as being eligible for download.

Pictures of some things I noticed were different. In general, it's faster. Gallery used to take forever to load and it loads very quickly now. When sharing a photo, the options load much faster. This is just from me playing with it for about a half hour.

This is a pain, link provide by ATT still not working and i have one of the Infuse that willl not update for what ever reason. maybe because I kept up with all the updates.

So a few have been able to update but the majority have not. Come on AT&T give us some info on what is going on. Are you trying to push us to other carriers? It's working rather you believe it or not. Enough is enough give us something.

Most likely the update to Gingerbead is being rolled out based on IMEI numbers of the phone to prevent the servers on Samsung end from crashing with Thousands of ATT users hitting the server with Kies mini trying to get the download at once.
Samsung did discuss the issue of the servers before the update released.
Seems the update is be rolled out in a phase manner.
