I don't know why G-note didn't have ICS yet. Gingerbread is too slow and laggy. we need the ICS update as soon as possible. Come on AT&T stand up for it. Atleast provide us with dates when it will get updated. There is no point you keeping it as a secret. G-Note LTE version should have to be on ICS. I think the delay was because.. S III would not be of much charm if G-Note was on ICS.
All strategies.. but it is leading to customer dissatisfaction.

Completely different phone. AT&T's version has nothing in common with the international Note other than the shape and the name.
To the OP: Lagginess has nothing to do with Gingerbread, and everything to do with the fact that you've got a crippled poorly performing CPU.

You mean I got the faulty phone from AT&T.
If yes, then I'm not alone who have this problem. More than 50% people have this kind of issue.

The Snapdragon S3 is fundamentally a poorly performing CPU - Even a 1.2 GHz Exynos can match or exceed the 1.5 GHz S3 on most workloads, and the 1.4 GHz Exynos of the real Note (not AT&T's crippled version) will smoke it.
Even on a 480p screen (like the Skyrocket), the S3 is known to be a poorly performing laggy CPU.

Yes true.. I totally agree with you.. So you don't think ICS will atleast improve the phone performance.. ??
I think it will atleast be little smoother than the gingerbread..
DO you suggest to flash ROM with CM9?

your completey right, and not arguing, pretty much common knowledge, but i dont understand how the phone can run high-res first-person online shooters amazingly, but then lag worse then my old captivate on the home-screen. not running games like a quad-core i can live with, its the lag that i never saw on a 1GHz single-core phone that bugs me.
basically, i dont understand how the hummingbird can seemingly outperform the S3 in certain areas, the exact same ADW EX set-up lags like crazy on the note but is as fluid as the iphone on the captivate, yet the note gets 15 FPS higher in nenamark II. this is what im hoping ICS fixes. if anyone can explain this to me better, maybe some graphics stuff i dont understand, please do

That new ICS leak from last week is pretty good. Still has an issue with the touch funcionality. It seems the touch screen doesn't come out of stand by with the rest of the phone. The screen works great otherwise. By that, I mean that when u unlock the phone, the video is fine and smooth. I have to tap on the screen a couple times before it responds the way my Skyrocket, Infuse 4G and Transformer Prime respond. Once it kicks in, it stays kicked in until the screen locks again. Otherwise it's a perfect daily driver. They fix this issue and it will be ready for prime time.

Just bringing to notice the problems I'm having with Galaxy note using the stock gingerbread are:
1. RAM usage is always 600+ mb .. not enough room to run more apps
2. music stops/stuck for a sec in between (irritating no non stop play).. it is dam* basic thing..
3. lags when you scroll screens or open phone dialer
4. opening some apps take forever to open
5. have to restart my phone almost daily for it to perform optimum
6. keyboard stuck for a sec or two while typing texts.. some times the same letter is twice.. for eg. i type 'note' but it comes as 'nnote' (double n)
I had Galaxy S2 before and it was so smooth and I expect more from Note..
Note has awesome features that I love it so much... but the above problems need to be fixed..
Please let me know if any of you have such issues..
AND AT&T please provide us the ICS upgrade.. enough is enough..

This just isn't true. The differences are the CPU, buttons, and the LTE antenna. Othewise it's the same phoine. Same shell, same form factor, same screen, same S-Pen, same camera, same DAC, etc. To say it's completely different just isn't factual. It is, in fact, the same phone essentially with a diferent CPU.
Now, closer to the topic, where in the world ICS for my Note? Price is getting slashed and we early adopters get the thanks of having to wait longer than virtually everyone else in the world for this update.

Which makes it a completely different device. ARM CPUs are "systems on a chip" where most of the system's peripherals lie on the same die as the CPU itself - swap the CPU and you've changed nearly the entire system. It makes it a completely and totally different phone. The only things in common between the two devices are external dimensions, the screen components, and the battery - EVERYTHING else is completely different.
Even if it may also use the MC1N2 - that's only a small portion of the audio subsystem. The modem audio interface is completely different, as is the CPU's interface to the MC1N2.
The entire graphics subsystem is completely different, including all video codecs. Even if the external camera peripheral is the same part number, that's only 5% of the picture when it comes to the software to use it. 95% of the work on Exynos devices is done by the Exynos FIMC/MFC - components which are COMPLETELY different in architecture and usage on Snapdragon.
If the I717 is as similar to the N7000 as you claim it is - Get the N7000 release of Cyanogenmod 9 running on the I717 as well as it does on the I9100 in two weeks. If your claim is true, this won't be a problem at all for you. After all, that's longer than it took me to get the I9100 CM9 release working on the I777 as well as it was running on the I9100.

Our discussion is mainly when we are getting the ICS on our AT&T Notes. Why is the delay..??
Will this be in this quarter or the next... ?
If it is coming soon like in a week or two then it is okay.. but if it is taking more longer time then it is not at all worth to wait..
Hoping few good things with ICS.. like the face unlock, voice talk using GTalk, Chrome, smoothness, new look, premium suite of S-pen, NFC and many more.. ALSO on my above post mentioned some issues I'm having.. hoping to get fixed to some extent with this upgrade
This phone is capable of all the above.. we paid $300 for this.. now what we see the price is slashed.. atleast I expect some appreciation (customer satisfaction) from AT&T by speeding the ICS OTA update..

I was reading some of the statistics.. In last 6 months after the ICS was released.. Companies started to roll out ICS to their flagship devices.. And in last few weeks many popular devices got hold of ICS..
Many company officials said that all the popular devices got the ICS..
It is shameful fact that ATT Note is getting this much delay.. Is this device so cheap that we are this last..
I had ASUS Transformer (not Prime) and got ICS months ago..
At&t released Note in first quarter (months after ICS was released).. didn't samsung planned for this at all..
Samsung said it will be gettin ICS as soon as possible.. depending on the carriers it may be decided when it will be released..
So AT&T is behind doing what?? testing ICS on Note??

I feel very lucky - I got my Note from AT&T when they were running the 150.00 off - I got mine for 149.00 and I was really thrilled.

I paid $300 along with 2 year contract.. Contract is binding me to stick to AT&T..
I had in mind to jump to Verizon and get Galaxy Nexus.. cool phone.. with awesome features.. It is so smooth in performance and also has google wallet working..
The only reason to buy note is was kinda impressed with the s-pen..
but now I don't know I'm having a feeling that I did huge mistake..
Google phones the plus point is.. they are first in queue to get all android updates as soon as it is released..

I love features and functionalities of note soooo much... but I hate the delay in update more than I love this phone.. As above mentioned.. this phone is capable of many things.. but the OS is putting it back.. I'm facing like many issues.. mentioned in one of my post above..
Sure this phone has many capabilities but couldn't enjoy them as it is supposed to..
