Honestly stay far away from the custom builds. They usually are OK for a week then all turns to crap t and one mistake can ruin your fon. Well this update took so much longer than it was supposed to that everyone else droid seem to have gotten beans. My upgrade became available and I bought the note ll and sold my 1 on ebay. I have to say everything about the 2 is better from the size weight display speed smoothness and especially the battery life.

How much did you get for your Note 1 on Ebay? I suppose this is an option for me too but I think I'll keep it another year or two even with ICS. Initially the battery life on my Note was pretty dismal, and I sort of got used to it thinking that was the price for its awesomness. When it developed some glitchiness, esp its not taking a full charge, even with different batteries, I reset to factory stock and whoa! what a difference! Much smoother, quicker, and easy all-day battery life in spite of lots of interneting, streaming music, podcasts and even Youtube videos. I really don't need much more from a phone at this point... the one feature I really want is some kind of full daylight display, but that is proving to be a very tough nut for the industry to crack.

I got $300 it was in like new condition, I've always had it in a case and with an iVisor screen protector. I sold it with the case and screen protector and included shipping. ($8.00) I liked the phone but I usually have many thing running it did get hot and laggy. Never froze. I find the 2 so much better I didn't think it possible. If you can, do it.

The jibes with what I heard recently too. I think the Canadian carrier (Rogers?) is getting update in May and typically ATT pops not long after. I've been wanting that buttery smoothness for a while now. Do you think we'll get better battery life too?

My battery life is hugely better after factory reset. I am also way more selective about what and how many apps to install. I just put on what I use regulartly.

Today is the day, people! JELLY BEAN UPDATE IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR THE ORIGINAL GALAXY NOTE!!!!!!!!!!! The update is only available via Kies, but that's a small price to pay for the LONG awaited update. I'm at work, and haven't been able to update yet. PLEASE let me know if you have updated and what the result has been!! Any issues seen? Let this day go down in history!!!!

Alright, folks. I was able to get Kies installed while here at work, and completed the upgrade to Jelly Bean 4.1.2! Right off the bat I have noticed that my phone seems to be running much faster and smoother (thank you, Project Butter!) but I've also found that some key upgrade features are missing, including the multi-view function. It was my understanding that holding the Back key would bring up multi-view on the left of the screen. This is not happening. Am I missing something? The new keyboard is great and includes the swipe functionality. I never really used swipe, but it's something I could get used to. The layout of the Applications menu is different, but something I prefer. There is a tab for Apps and a tab for Widgets. It took me a while to find some of my most used apps because they now show in the widgets tab. Lock screen customization is great. Allows for 5 shortcuts. I also like the ripple effect from the lock screen. The notifications bar is pretty sweet as they have added some more toggle options. You can also access the Settings menu directly from the notifications bar.
I'll update this some more as I find new things, but if someone could update me on the multi-view functionality, that would be great!!!!!

There are a few more things I have found that either don't work at all or don't work well.
1.) As mentioned earlier, no multi-view. Cannot find settings for this anywhere. I am beginning to believe this is only on Android 4.2.2.
2.) Double tapping the spacebar within the messaging app does not create a period. I have not yet found a way to change this, if there is a way.
3.) I use Handcent as my messaging app, and after upgrading to 4.1.2 I kept receiving notifications saying that I had new messages. It read all my open chats as new messages. I had to open each message to get the notification to go away.
4.) I have found that the position of the clock on the lock screen cannot be changed - or I have not yet found a way to change the position. The clock and weather information is smack in the middle of the display. Somewhat annoying because it blocks my wallpaper.
5.) The wallpaper I am using on my lock screen is mostly black. Unfortunately, the blacks appear more as grey when unlocking the phone. Not too sure what's going on with that. It's almost as if the colors are dull or faded. I don't see a way to adjust/control this.
6.) When selecting your wallpaper, there is a weird cropping feature. There are two overlying boxes, one vertical and one horizontal. You only have the option to adjust the vertical box, and the horizontal one under it moves with the vertical one. Somewhat hard to explain but you'll see what I mean when you update.
That's all I have for now, but I'm sure I'll find more after using JB for a while. Please let me know if any of you are experiencing the same issues and if you may have found a way to alter the settings for some of the above mentioned.

So, I've been using my Note for a while now with 4.1.2 and I have to say that I'm pretty pleased with the upgrade. I discovered that this update did not come with multi-view but rather a popup video and browser function that I haven't really explored yet. It would have been nice to gain the ability to run two different apps at the same time, as seen with the Note 2, but I guess that will do. I've noticed that my Note seems a bit slow to charge now that it's running 4.1.2. I don't yet know if that battery life is truly improved, but I'm hoping it holds a charge for as long as it's taken to charge the phone! I've removed some of my less used apps and will see if that helps at all. I still haven't found a way to reposition the clock or weather information on the lock screen, and that's honestly driving me a bit mad! With ICS, you could select the position of the clock and weather which was nice if you had a wallpaper with a central image. Again, let me know if you discover anything new or have any comments on the information I've posted!

I've just found that the different lock screen methods don't work. The method I define in Settings doesn't stick. When I press the power button to turn on the display, I'm still required to swipe the screen to unlock the phone. This could be a huge problem for anyone who prefers to use a pattern or password. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
I have also determined that the new Samsung keyboard is crap. I have turned on predictive text but incorrect words are not corrected. I've purposley been spelling tomorrow as "tomorroe" and even though the correct spelling appears in the list next to the incorrect spelling, hitting the spacebar doesn't replace the word. What's the deal with that?? Has anyone else noticed this??

I'm hosed! That Kies software won't update my phone. I've tried on two different laptops, with old and current Kies s/w. So either I waste half a day at a AT&T service center, or I wait another unknown length of time for OTA update. Jeez! What a comedy of crap.

After using my Note with 4.1.2 for a full day now, I've decided that issues with battery life were not fixed. This may be because I have more apps downloaded than I use, but I feel my battery is draining faster, if anything.
I also decided to contact Samsung about issues with the update - i.e. things are are either not working well or not at all. I have not heard anything back from them yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I hear something soon. It's quite a disappointment to have to wait months to get the update, only to find that certain things don't live up to descriptions or expectations. It's almost as if Samsung rushed this developement just to shut their customers up.
Can anyone else give any updates? I'm wondering if things are the same across the board. I'll post something new when I hear back from Samsung. *Fingers crossed*

The keyboard is by far the worst thing about this update. If they would do something to correct issues with the keyboard, I would more or less be happy. I can't even find the setting that would allow me to recalibrate the touch settings on the phone! I'll still be switching to Verizon once my contract is up, or close enough to being complete that I'm not paying a boat load of money to end the contract.
