Can anyone tell me when the Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy Note (first edition) will be available!!?? I have been waiting for thisupdate since it was announced back in August. I know that AT&T is usually pretty slow to update its devices (as seen with the ICS update for the SGN in Q2 of 2012) but come on! I've seen a lot of folks with the S2 and the S3 that have already been update to Jelly Bean but I doubt that they have AT&T. I believe both Verizon and Sprint have already rolled out their updates for those devices. Along the same lines, does anyone know if the SGN will receive Jelly Bean 4.1.2?

Unfortunately br34kb0x, I believe Buckyball is right. You're not alone though in your wait. I'm waiting for the update to JB on the GS3. You'd think At&t would want to clean up their image in regards to customer satisfaction. It doesn't appear that they care though given the recent report from Consumer Reports. Dead last again in customer satisfaction.
Whether or not a phone receives OS updates probably only matters to no more than 2% of the customers with that smartphone. If you ask most Galaxy S III users if they want Jellybean on their phone, they would respond with "No, why would I put food on my phone?". With Note customers, maybe 5% care because the Note doesn't appeal to typical customers due to its size.
I have co-workers that think that the naming scheme for Android OS versions is silly and by extension, the updates themselves. They feel as if their phones were working well and an update just messes everything up for them, even if it doesn't have technical glitches. They don't understand why double-tapping the home button doesn't bring up icons of recently used apps anymore, even though the ICS list serves the same purpose. They can't stand the inversion of the menu colors. The list goes on.
AT&T has to serve many types of customers- the ones that don't care, the ones that want Jellybean now, and the ones that have been using it for four months already.

AT&T is really slow with coming up with updates. I think I might leave AT&T because of that. Software updates are vital to value and life of a device. T-Mobile is already offering great deals. And they roll out updates way faster than AT&T ever can.
You guys are a huge company so invest more in making updates.

I called ATT earlier for my Notes 2 and asked them if they have a release update for this. They stated they do.
I was able to download the update but it did not execute, so I was told to backup my phone via kies. and then do a factory reset, then download the software update as it is available via ATT software update. I just started the download..and its still going....very slow...on wifi.. chugging along..
I'd call ATT and just find out if there is a 4.1.2 update for your Notes and if so, then you can try backup and then factory reset?

AT&T is greedy. I will be switching soon to Verison which has better support.
I don't think the JB will be released until the original note is OFF the market at the stores. Why would one buy a Note 2 if the Note has JB too? The Note 2 wouldn't be worth $150 more would it? So, with that in mind, I don't expect the JB until the original note goes off the market.
I got this news in my inbox last night:
So in the USA, I bet it is still months away.

I think the notion that AT&T is holding back original Note upgrade to sell more Note II is a likely one. As if we need many more excuses to dump the much hated AT&T. When my contract is up for renewal, I'll probably just go to Verizon because my employer also discounts with them. I'll probaby wait for Note3 or beyond. I want YOUM screen, at least Octa Core CPU.

I will be switching to Verizon in the very near future. I have been with AT&T for almost 3 years now and have not had any luck with good customer service or device support. Verizon has a much better history of updating software and great customer service. The only thing I'm waiting on before making the switch is the Galaxy S 4! AT&T really needs to get their act together...

That's bad news about Rogers... I wouldn't be at all surprised if AT&T bails on the orig Note as being just too much trouble for an 'old' phone. I guess 1.5 yrs *is* old in phone years these days. Fortunately it is still a killer device (and ICS ain't bad at all) that I'll probably hang on to for at least another cycle or two.

Pacert, I suppose CM10 may be my only option... kind of hate to risk bricking my phone now that it's working so well and finally got my battery issue sorted. Is CM10 fully supporting the S Pen? I don't really care all that much about the 'hover' trick, buy very much need S Pen for notes & sketching.

I bought this phone with 2 yr contract in good faith that the advertisement and brand positioning AT&T does would be followed with support to realize the promises made. So far that is not the case. I have a phone that is not suported well and have 11 months more before I can update. If cellular phone companies had laws akin to the automotive lemon laws we'd have support. Automobile companies realized their behavior has a cost and they worked on it and improved it.
I called and got a $25 customer service credit today with the only complaint being lack of holding their promise to give Jelly Bean to my Note.
I know I can root my phone and get Jelly Bean. I am with AT&T because they are, according to them, the best. The best doesn't make customers risk locking up their hardware to get what they promised they would do.

Agreed, when I buy a flagship phone I expect better support than watching cheaper older phones than I have get updates that it seems I may never get.
It makes no sense whatsoever and seriousuly makes me consider takinig my roughly 17 years of cell busniess (yep - never had another carrier ever) with AT&T elsewhere.

And this is why I plan on leaving AT&T when my contract is up, because their updates don't come on time or they don't have any answers as to when.... lesson learned. My next phone will be a Nexus whatever, pure Google so I don't have to wonder if I'll get an update or not. Don't want to root my device just to get an update and to remove all the bloatware...Soon KLP will be out, then what...HA good bye..

Pacert... ouch on that ATT 'hacking' your bank account. Their employees are often really clueless about their own products. I as in the local ATT store in Jan when that Samsung ATIV first hit the scene, and I was really considering it as a replacement for my dead laptop because it runs Win8 and has an S Pen. Well, they all do *except* ATT's model. This very condescending guy in the store said I was wrong and must be confused... that it didn't feature the S Pen even though I had just been at Staples where they had a demo with one and I actually used it. I eventually bought an ATIV from the Microsoft Store but sent it back because the Atom dual core processsor couldn't handle the desktop environment very well, but it was close enough to see that the next gen Atom will probably nail it.

I haven't yet flashed because in the past , the S Pen hasn't been well supported by CM, and that is the only reason I have a Note in the first place.
