I am more interested in AT&T actually giving us real information. The frustration here wouldn't exist if they took the time to explain their plans. Carriers are still locked in the "we are in charge" way of working with subscribers. Someday I hope laws will be passed to put choice back into the hands of consumers.
If we had a truly free marketplace we wouldn't be stuck with this lack of response.
I don't think it's about 'we are in charge' though. It's a buisness decision, for the most part. Or in some cases it may be code development and test delays for whatever reason. WIth this particular update, it's not a security critical update. So, perhaps it's not a huge priority for AT&T, unless they decide to use it for marketing purposes to sell more Note 2's.
I agree with the free marketplace, but I think you have it backwards...less laws or laws that modify existing laws in order to allow for efficiecy and reduced costs are warrented, NOT more laws (hey, let's start with healthcare and remove laws that prevent cross-state insurance, among other ridiuclous, restrictive laws that were passed back in 2010).
But, that (the free market) has nothing to do with AT&T's lack of response or any responses.
You have a choice to go to other carriers. And I would hope the market allows for more carriers, if they so choose to join the fray.
Again, though...totally agreed that we are all frustrated, and perhaps the recent Endgaget news is something to be optimistic about.

I also found this from a Google alert sent to my Email. Android Authority has always given me the most accurate information. This is a over the air update and there unaware if it is gonna be rolled out in phases or all at once. I know I just did a check for an update with no luck and I'm unable to check again for 24 hours I'll keep you's posted. Please let us know if you received your update yet. I'm a lot more happier knowing that it is coming and I'll do fine until the update reaches my phone. Not sure if this Forum helped or the calls to the BBB that I know some of you guys did or the call after call from all of us directly to AT&T but it's coming and I'm excited.
AT&T plans to begin rolling out a software update for Samsung Galaxy Note II customers that includes the Multi-Window feature, which allows the user to divide the screen into two active “windows” creating a split screen that enables fluid multitasking between applications. The update will be available for download over the air beginning Dec. 27.
Sounds hopeful. Agreed, I'd rather hear this from reliable sources, as a few people have recently cited.
I am sure the update was in the works anyway. Complaints are fine...but, it didnt take THAT long, in the scheme of things and it was just unfortunate that we had to be the last US carrier to get it. Again, it wasn't a security/critical update.
The sources that seem to be fronts, are the ones to NOT be trusted...originally checking for Note 2 release rumors was annoying due to sites like PC-Tablet.com.
I think those sites are paid or whatnot...some promote Apple, some promote specific Android devices. Just good to know your sources.
But, yes...this seems like good news. A bunch of decent to reputable rumor/news sites are now reporting the rollout, as you can see from doing a news search on it today. Cool.
It will take time...think of how many customers it has to go to. Just like Sprint, etc. But, at least good news. Kudos to those who posted it!

Here is a list -from someone who posted on Android Central forums- of possible features in addition to enabling Samsung's Multi-task/Multi-window feature:

I'm downloading it now, too! Someone on a tech site just finished the download, and posted a screenshot of his AT&T Note II being updated to Android 4.1.2! I'm only at 36% so I can't wait!

Khemistry, I just looked at your screen shots. What happened to the Bluetooth and all the other toggle switches? Does it still scroll?
Also, are there any problems with the phone now that you installed the update? How is battery life compared to 4.1.1? Did you factory reset before or after you updated?

I just installed this update. You're asking me questions that would require me having this updated device for 24 hours or more. And, as is have been since forever, the toggles scroll. All of the toggles can't appear in one screenshot.

I heard that this was out the door somewhere...the 'sync' toggle. I forget the rationale, but it seemed fine when I read it at the time, if I recall.

yeah that sucks...
if you do that, it wipes everything right? so you have to restore apps thru google play, etc? restore home screen setup + widgets? etc?
I guess i can backup and restore that data that i REALLY need to and leave the rest to do what it wants.
One should try it at least, to see how annoying it would be and prepare for such a scenario, for any occasion

What a stupid way to curb updates - a dumb time counter. Anybody know a way to update through kies or something else? My dock is coming tomorrow and I would like to try multi window without waiting until Saturday.
