Great news! Samsung Galaxy S3 owners will get Jelly bean update in September! Meaning FASTER, SMOOTHER, AMAZING phone!

Its fast and smooth now and more importantly, it works. I don't want / need update(s). I don't have time for nonsense that can potentially "brick" the phone. Go back and read all the complaints how how updates worked in the past.

Read about Jelly Bean....it has been tested and it works amazingling well...and even if there are a few problems, overall it will be amazing...its already released on the Nexus and its so much better...

Then don't update. People will want the updates, especially due to Google Now integration and Project Butter. Furthermore, a small percentage of people that may have had problems means everyone will? I have never had issues getting OTA updates.

I will most likely just end up getting a rom from xda that has the latest update anyway without all the at&t-added apps.

The Galaxy S2 has a few bugs on 4.0.3. I wish I could get the JB update as soon as possible.

Almost surely that only means the I9300. AT&T variant owners likely won't see it for another 6-9 months minimum - the best AT&T has ever done was a 3 month delay for I777 ICS, and that's a device that's 99% identical to the I9100. The AT&T GS3 is completely different from the I9300.

I've read somewhere that Samsung said the Note, GSII and GSIII are working surprisingly well with JB. Very little trouble after running on test units. All Intl. versions I'm sure.

I9300's (International) are already being updated. You can hold me to this but my sources are saying that U.S. carriers of the G III will be updated by the end of next month.

I'm guessing that the amount of work the developers at both Samsung and AT&T need to update a device from 4.0 to 4.1 is much, much less than to update a device from 2.3.6 to 4.0. Granted the test effort is likely the same.

For the most part, 2.3.6 was a phone only OS. 4.0 and 4.1 are written for phone, tablet and TVs. I assume that the change in API's going to 4.x is huge, whereas they are likely changed little for 4.1 (with more additions than changes). I will not be surprised if the upgrades to Jelly Bean (4.1) come much quicker than they did with ICS.

Yeah. Differences from GB to ICS are FAR less than from ICS to JB - That's why, with a few small exceptions (which would be easymode to deal with for any manufacturer), it has only taken a few weeks for Cyanogenmod to transition mostly from ICS to JB.

The main problem is backwards compatibility with "legacy" HAL blobs - manufacturers have the source code to this stuff so that's not a problem for them.

don't hold your breath, the way it usually rins is the update is announced by the manifacturer, then at+t needs 2 months to muck it up and add bloatware, then set a release date, and then postpone it at least twice. so maybe march?
