This app is really amazing! It really does increase your signal by at least 2 bars. It increased mine to 5 bars from my test! I think a lot of people will benefit from this, especially if you are in an area with little coverage.

You understand the bars are completely relative (no standard for what they mean) and don't really symbolize much of anything, right? How do you know the app doesn't just change how signal strength is correlated to the number of bars (signal is the same, the phone is just displaying more bars)?
I think there is a way to measure the dB of signal strength between the phone and the cell tower in the phone's test panel. That would be a real measure of whether this app is doing anything.

Settings / About device / Status.........
Relative signal strength displayed as -dbm
example:
-59dbm would be glow in the dark strong,
-115dbm would be at the edge of usefullness
Op is correct. No "magic" contained in an app. Want a better signal ? Get a better antenna. Manufacturers have some of the blame as phones today have only internal antennas. Thats the price you pay to be "stylish".

Yes I know, but it actually does decrease the dbm, and it shows it in the results page after its done...what it pretty much does is reset the network, and reconnect to the strongest cell tower in the area, and it shows you the dbm it was previoulsly at and the dbm it is now

Interesting. I don't know the "nuts and bolts" of how phones typically connect to the network. If they don't connect to the tower with the strongest signal by default, how do they connect? Closest tower, or something else?

So in "laymans" terms does this app really work? I have an S III, my wife and daughter have iPhone 3g, and my son has the infuse. Will it work on all smartphones.
It is an android app. Apple must have something simmilar but you'd have to check it's market.
