Another day, and still no word from AT&T.
I really hope the bad press continues to pile up. The delay on Jelly Bean is plain stupid.

Let's face the facts here folks. The people from AT&T, for the purpose of this discussion we'll call them the forum moderators, have no policy and /or decision making authority. We can rail at them until the cows come home and it will not change the update process for the One X one bit. People like jamileh will try to answer questions and concerns in the forums as able but this update is not within their control. I would hope that AT&T is keenly aware that there is a groundswell of negative publicity about this update and are planning to release the update soon. However, if you recall the same scenario happened with the Samsung Captivate and the update to Gingerbread. Lots of mad people posting in these same forums, same rants, same words. When the Gingerbread update was finally released for the Captivate, it was IMHO a worthwhile wait as it did address most of the software based issues that the Captivate had. I still have my Captivate, Still on the Gingerbread release from AT&T and it's still working fine. Let's hope that the time that AT&T is taking with this update will yield a clean and problem free version of the firmware and that future updates will be rolled out in a slightly more expedited manner. Just my thoughts.

ATT has an obligation to keep customers informed regarding updates. The community manager has responded once in several months to this long string over several months. TELL US WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH JB UPDATE. Customers won't stay with ATT if uninformed and the process is so slow. I believe it has to be done right or it would be total disaster but TALK TO US,

Sorry, While I agree that this situation is frustrating, AT&T really is not "obligated" to tell us anything with respect to updates for devices. They should release the information but from a contractual standpoint there's no obligation.

No they don't. They provided you a phone and service. That was all you get. The updates are not part of the package.

Obligation doesn't always imply legal or contractual. The definition includes legal and contractual as examples of reasons for obligation. But other reasons could include social, moral, ethical, etc. As paying customers of a business, one could argue that AT&T has an obligation to do right by us, including providing up-to-date software with fixes for bugs that plague modern electronics.

More bad press for AT&T...not that they seem to care in the least.

I agree but has AT&T exhibited any of those characteristics in the past with respect to updates of any device? In a utopic environment that may happen but probably not so much here.

It's amusing to see the bi-monthly posts telling us all that our voices have been heard. But it's clear that they have not been heard by anyone with any real authority. The true source of our problem lurks in a big office building (or probably on a golf course somewhere.) They hide behind poverty-level customer service reps, and if any of our outrage reaches their door or inbox, it is immediately dismissed with the "We're working on it." line of garbage. They'll reap what they've sown eventually, and they'll lose business due to their awful polocies.
I still encourage those of you who want to root to do so. You can still run Jelly Bean and Sense 4+, and experience the One X the way HTC had intnded. Minus the ATT bloatware. And your Quadrant score will skyrocket compared to where ATT has you all stuck right now.

Obviously we're not allowed to post details, but I'd love information on how to easily and safely root the HOX, then flash custom ROMs. I'm not interested in waiting for Jelly Bean anymore.

Done that, but the walkthroughs I found were pretty turgid and filled with caveats like, "This should work..." and "Haven't tried this myself, but..."

The rooting and custom rom part itself isn't bad. They have a full toolkit for root on XDA. Easy. I just wish I didn't have to wipe to be able to do it. If it wasn't for that, I would have rooted a long time ago.

Well, one of the reasons is that the bootloader for the One X has not been completely unlocked. Most of the how-to's use known exploits to provide temp root access but not true root. I've had many Android devices and rooting & flashing custom ROM's sounds appealing and I've done it but the good ROM is rare and the great one is even more so.

Viper XL sounds like it's a rare great rom from what I hear.

I appreciate her quick reply, but I was hoping to hear something more specific from someone a little more knowledgeable about the progress of the testing.

Alright, after submitting my formal complaint to the BBB, I got a phone call from a nice lady in the AT&T executive offices. She left me a vague voice mail about the JB update, saying that "we are continuing to test it" and "it will be released as soon as possible".....which tells us absolutely nothing. Is it worth it to call her back and press a little? Or will I just be shut down as a petulant customer?

Definitely keep pressing. If you can't get info, at least try to push for some kind of reimbursement for being misled.

That's not entirely correct. Google "Android Update Alliance" for more info. Unfortunately, the manufacturers and carriers seem to have chosen to ignore it.

gOOpy, i rooted my HOX and installed JB three weeks ago.
i was a complete newb and i did it, i'd be happy to send you the links and procedure i used. PM me.
I know what you are talking aboyt with finding the right info it is pretty scattered.
im running cyanogen 10, JB 4.1 and its is stable as a rock. forget ATT, root that bad boy and enjoy JB. You dont realize all the crap ATT puts on this phone until you see a clean rom. i may eve reflash to 4.2 i didnt realize it was avalible when i installed 4.1
i suggest others to do the same, screw ATT and their policies, root and enjoy. you pay enough for their service, enjoy it the way you want.

That's certainly not "breaking news" to anyone. It rolled out several months ago in Asia & Europe and Canada wasn't far behind.

That's all fine. I'm sure that carriers as well as phone companies will start to care when nexus products start taking over. They will have to get timely updates out, or they won't be able to keep up and they may start losing more market share.
As I've said before, when Google releases a Nexus with LTE compatibility, I will stop buying carrier-branded phones. The Nexus 4 is a great device, but the lack of LTE is a dealbreaker.

Nexus devices from now on.
Relying on a carrier for an update, for a carrier-branded phone, is crap and has been botched multiple times. Especially by AT&T.

I was looking through the posts and saw the first message from Jamileh, the community manager where she states: "
I know you're eagerly awaiting news about the latest update for the HTC One X. As soon as I have information about it, I will post it. I'm sorry I don't have anything for you just yet." dated 12/17/12.
Wow, I would hate to work at a place where I was left in the dark concerning information important to my job for that long. Oh, well, looking at Sprint phones next week. I"m out ATT.
