I don't suppose you can give us hint as to when we might see Jelly Bean, huh? A timeline? How long does it take to certify software and how long after certifying are we likely to see this update? It would be great if AT&T could give us a little more information. ![]()

Hey KLP has been on my phone for a few months now. (My initials are KLP, har har)
I really don't know what else there is to discuss about the update except that we don't have the update. Maybe another topic that is worthy of discussing is that it feels like there is something fishy going on in that most of the other One X phones have the update, we were promised an update a while back, and no one is talking about when the update is coming. Oh yeah we have been talking about those things too. Can we get a ball park date as to when the update is coming? Is the update coming at all, aka do we have a reason for holding our breath and hitting the check for updates button every 24.1 hrs? What you are seeing is frustration from the people you are suppose to be serving. We do pay you good money for these phones. Can you give us something (other than cell phone service) in return?

I think a status update on when this phone is getting Jelly Bean is pretty relevant to this thread.

Looks like a PR nightmare from the links google pulls up:
AT&T One X Jelly Bean Update Beaten Again
Still no Jelly Bean update for AT&T's HTC One X
AT&T HTC One X Jelly Bean update frustrations
HTC One X Jelly Bean Update: AT&T Still A No Show;
Telus HTC One X 4.1 Jelly Bean update, AT&T lagging
HTC One X Jelly Bean update AT&T still MIA | TechSpy
One would think AT&T would like to come out with some sort of release and a date to try to end this onslaught of negative press...

No Valentine's Day gift. No update today.
The HTC One X is almost a year old, outdated in the phone world, and not usually updated at this point. I had the Inspire 4G, also a flagship phone, and after 5 months I never received an update again. That is fact. Search the Intrawebs. Had the phone from March 2011 to September 2012. HTC came out with an updated phone(HTC Titan) in the fall of 2011, and that is what I believe stopped the upgrades on the Inspire 4G.
It's over folks. Happy Valentines Day. Yippee-ki-yay!!

We have over 50 HTC One X devices for our company's sales team. It is unfortunate that ATT will not provide any information in regard to this software update. Going forward, device and carrier support will be a consideration by our purchasing department.

Although I don't own the HTC One X, this is really souring my taste of AT&T. I'm a relatively new customer who joined AT&T in July 2012, after over 7 years with T-Mobile, whose service quality has drastically degraded in my area. AT&T's signal strength and data coverage are both excellent, and LTE is just amazing. However, their approach to Android updates is ludicrous.
Although Samsung was fairly quick to release the Jellybean update for Galaxy S3, AT&T was one of the last major carriers to roll it out (Verizon took the dubious honor of being the last). From what I understand, Samsung was not too happy with AT&T and Verizon dragging their feet with the update. In fact, AT&T's update was initially only made available via Samsung's Kies software. No OTA was released until about 6 weeks later.
I have a brand new Nexus 4 at home, as well as a Nexus 10 tablet. Stock Android is amazing, free of bloatware and carrier overlays. When I was with T-Mobile, I was using a Galaxy Nexus, which received Jellybean during the first week of July. As much as I love the fact that Nexus phones allow users to completely sever their dependency on the carrier to provide timely updates (or updates, in general), the lack of LTE is definitely a dealbreaker. I really hope that Google includes LTE capability in their next Nexus. Once that happens, there will be no reason at all to purchase carrier-branded phones.

I have actually registered just to reply to your message below. The fact that you will not acknowlege the fact that your roll out is slow and without any sensitivity to your customers due to lack of any transparency speaks volumes to the culture of your organization. The reason this thread has divolved into a complaint forum is because you do not provide information to your customers in professional manner.
I am sure they would be reasonable if you just stated: "hey, sorry the roll out is taking so long. It should be out in ______weeks. Our apologies for any frustrations this may have caused".
What more do these people have to discuss if it is not the lack of communication?

Its pretty clear that people just want a timeframe on the update. I really don't think this is too much to ask since pretty much every variant of the HTC One X already has Jelly Bean.
The HTC One X was marketed as a flagship phone. So why isn't it receiving flagship treatment under AT&T?

It was marked as a flagship phone, but sales did not boom untl they marked it down to $99, once they knew the Plus was coming out.

I've been a loyal customer of yours for a few years now and when I purchased my HTC One X, I was under the impression that I was getting a premium flagship phone from one of the biggest companies in the world. Now just a few months into the phone's life cycle, it's already obsolete and you guys have the power to bring it up to date (jelly bean) but choose not to. Now what incentive will I have to renew my contract and buy your next "flagship phone"?

HTC should be held somewhat reliable for this Update failure... They honestly didn't have the update in the carriers hands very quickly. And more importantly, from a business prospective they should know that if AT&T messes up their update, that they would indeed receive some negative feedback... HTC should be up AT&T's *** to get this update out quick... they should not settle for anything less than a quick release. Its pathetic that HTC just watches as many customers tear such a great phone apart because AT&T doesnt know how to handle an update. I should have avoided HTC after my Inspire 4g experience... In the future I am jumping ship form both HTC and AT&T as they both have failed to live up to their names.

Then how come every other HTC One X carrier pushed out the update months ago? AT&T seems to be the limiting factor here. HTC should have more say in when their phones get updated on the carriers they contract with, but it doesn't seem like they have any say at all.
I love my HTC One X and would love to be a future HTC customer, but until updates are no longer carrier-specific, I'm getting a Nexus far, far away from AT&T.

I agree with the last post...its not on HTC in my opinion. They had the update to AT&T a while ago. Should they have more control? Probably. But they probably have some sort of agreement with AT&T and they don't have the leverage that a company like Apple has to have a better agreement and more control over update releases.

It seems you have created a little uproar with your comment. People saying inappropriate things, either about someone or using harsh language is unacceptable. However to me you posting with threats to remove this blog only makes things worse! One X owners (myself included) are angry, and rightfully so! We would rather see someone from AT&T posting something positive about Jelly Bean instead of ignoring or avoiding the fact. The fact that we still have not received the update, as well as the lack of information or timeline for the release of the update is unacceptable! The automated resopnse on social media that i have recieved from AT&T is frustrating. "We have no info at this time"? Its extremely hard to believe that there is no info to give considering that (A) the HTC One X was once considered "a flagship device" and (B) just about every other One X in the world has already started (most awhile ago) recieving the update. We spend our hard earned money on AT&Ts products and services. It's not unfair to say we deserve updates and information in a timely fashion! I hope you can see my FRUSTRATION and i hope to see Jelly Bean soon, but I'm not holding my breath!
Thanks.

Come on At&t. You think just ignoring us is gonna make us shut up? You are pathetic, when it comes to OS updates, especially for Android. You owe us the 4.1.1 update. Never again will i buy a substidized phone from you. Im going unlocked from company, for now on. Your service is great, but your phone support sucks.

Agreed. ATT, you need to get this under control. Is this thread perhaps getting off topic and lude? Yes. You have a forum, what do you expect? People are unhappy, and while that doesn't necessarily justify illicit postings, it also doesn't absolve you from providing some semblance of customer service. This delay in the JB update is outrageous and disingenuous. ATT has provided no respectful correspondence on this matter so the Mods really shouldn't expect to be reading through positive and respectful posts. You have customers to keep happy and you are clearly not doing so, and at this point, all bets are nearly off.
Go ahead, shut down this thread. It will only add to the abhorrent PR that you are getting for being, at best, over a month behind the next slowest updates from a telecom (a tally that is literally growing by the second). Another thread will open. You can continue to shut threads down, but they appear all over the internet. Your paltry customer service is well documented and well established. This is not a way to change it, either. The only interaction we've received from ATT in that months since the JB update was announced was a message telling us that there is a certification process happening (gee, thanks...) and another threatening to shut down the forums that you provide for your customers to use in exactly the way which we are using it.
Should we continue to discuss the update? Sure. But the only thing to talk about at this point is how it DOESN'T *** EXIST and that we HAVE NO IDEA WHEN ITS GOING TO HAPPEN BECAUSE YOU DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS. What don't you get? Should we talk about all of the new features that we aren't aware of because we dont have the software (though many of us know features because we understand how to use Google)? Perhaps we can discuss how much we are enjoying using Google Now? oh wait, no we can't because..yep...no update. Oh man, what about the bug fixes to this and that and the other...oh yeah that's right, haven't seem that yet. you see, there is nothing to discuss other than how much ignorance and arrogance you, as a company, seem to be operating with.
It's sad. For years I had praised ATT network (still do, really), but things have changed. All networks are built out across many telecoms. And for folks like me who live in a very large metro area, there are a number of options. Will I be leaving ATT over this? No. But I will guarantee that the contract to which I am currently nearing an end (bought my HOX off contract) will be the last one I sign with ATT. I'll pick up a GNex and enjoy the freedom. If that doesn't work and if nothing changes in the coming months with ATT, I'll just head over to Verizon. I get my corporate discount there, too. You are just as replaceable as we are, especially when you handle situations like this one with threats to mute our voice instead of inquiries into how to help us and information that we would die to have. How hard is it to just say, "Hey all, sorry for the delays, we have the update built completed and have to test it for a few weeks to ensure safe and secure functionality," or "we are still building the software and have yet to establish an approximate release date, but will keep you informed."
You need to disseminate info and be a point of contact between the customer and the company. We have passion about our technology and services, and you approach it like a job, which is all you're obligated to do, but it just validates all of the complaints and concerns that are being voiced here and on other internet forums and tech sites.

At least we have choices with phone carriers. Remember land lines back in the day? You only had one choice and they could charge whatever they wanted, up to a point before the local government would step in. I remember it was 5 something an hour to talk to a friend in a different zip code. Lol. Zone calls. Lol.

Threatening to shut down this thread is about as ridiculous as it gets. Seriously.
Apparently the people that are sold a phone that is marketed as a flagship phone and then denied an update that most other major Android phones aready have are the ones doing the diservice. The customer is always WRONG, I guess, here at AT&T.
Just give people a status update on when you expect Jelly Bean to arrive for the HTC One X.

Folks: You may also want to consider voicing your frustrations on HTC USA's Facebook page. Although it's unclear how much of a part HTC has played in this debacle, complaining to anyone and everyone couldn't hurt, I suppose.
