Finally something other than the normal "Checking for new software available now." message. After checking for what seemed like a couple of minute,s it finally came back with a message saying that the server was unavailable and to check back later. I checked again just to see what would happen and... nothing! KNowing the update is there and you can't get it is just as bad as waiting for months for the update to be available!
I've been with AT&T since '97 and I'm so over this crap. Can't wait till my contract is up and I can leave this all behind!

@tiny AT&T doesn't recognize "Unfortunately HtcDm has stopped" as an issue they replace a phone over let alone try to resolve. I felt like their heads were going to explode when I was trying to explain the issue... glassy eyes.
Everything I have is stock. Can anyone suggest how to get through to someone in support who isn't reading some script?
Escalate! They can call in their supervisor. If that doesn't work ask to talk to his manager and so on!
They have to fix a failed OTA update if you had the stock and untampered version of Android!

I'm in the NY/NJ/CT tri-state area and have seen absolutely no sign of the OTA. Stellar job once again, AT&T.

So, I've downloaded the manual file, but I want to know; (1) Will I have to do a hard reset in order to get this to work? (2) Will I lose all of my phone data (call history, sms, etc.)?, (3) What ar emy options for backing up and/or recovering if the flash doesn't work?

So I havent read the last 5 or 6 pages so I dont know whats happening with everyone elses phone so I may just be repeating what everyone else is saying but I had filed a complaint to the BBB a few days ago. AT&T's customer care has tried to contact me several times but I was usually unavalible and couldnt answer but we finally got in contact today. The man's name was Nathan I believe. He was extremely nice and understanding. As much as AT&T has P*****d me off about this whole situation, i appriciate him being really nice. He gave me the good news that the update was released yesterday (finally). I checked to see if I had any updates and I did! Im downloading it now. As of right now its at 15% ![]()
Scrath that its at 19%
So excited!!! ![]()

I haven't seen anyone else complain about this bug, either here on other smartphone forums. So it may just be a incompatibility with your existing apps or settings. Really, the method of updating the phone while keeping user data is messy and problematic, and therefore prone to bugs. You might try to backup your personal data, and doing a factory reset. You will still have JB, but on a clean slate. Not ideal, but factory reset will often (not always, but often) clear up random bugs after an OTA.

I'm in the same boat, been with AT&T since '94. My device will sometimes search for the "new software" until I reboot the device. Other times it will search for 10 seconds and quit with no error or message.
Arrgh!

One thing that I've noticed is that the hardware button backlight is now photosensitive. It's all about saving power. ![]()

I'm one of those people that always does a reset, in this case I did one before the install, installed JB and did one after the install. It really is like a new device. I agree with a poster earlier that said I bet they don't sell a whole bunch of One X + after this update. I might pick one up on clearance however. ![]()

Nandroid is probably the best but you have to be rooted with SU and busybox. Unrooted and stock probably Carbon

Anyone have a link to the official update file? I've seen several floating around the web and would prefer to use one that I know is 100% legit. Not willing to wait for the OTA...I'm going manual, assuming that'll even work.

I don't understand why 3.18.502.6 can't be installed manually using HTC Sync Manager like 2.20.502.7 could. That update required an .exe file (provided from HTC.com) and the only ROM I see floating about for this update is a .zip.
Come on, AT&T. This isn't hard. It's like you're actively trying to make this difficult. Stop it.

HTC will probably release an RUU in a few days but it's been my experience that HTC's RUU's are full wipe install only.
