This is just a phone. I don't have time to play it all day. The most important things for me are good connection and stablility. The reason I haven't root it is because I don't see I need those features. If I need those features in the future, I will root it but I have not plan for custom roms. I have tried custom roms on my last phone and every one of them gave me SOD or radom reboots. Athough that did happen too often, they are annoying.
BTW, tether without paying for it is illegal, same as stealing.
That is exactly what the carriers want you to think. I have paid for the data if I use it on my phone or the computer I do not think there should be a difference. My phone internet connection cost as much as my cable connection. When I connect my phone to my cable Wifi I do not get a call from the cable company telling me I committed a crime.
So it is not illegal, it just does not conform to the contract agreement.

I am glad we finally have the update. The lack of any communication is what bothers me so much. Even a Q1 or Q2 indicator would have at least let us know it was real and was coming.

I hear you. You may think that's unfair, but that's the contract you signed. I bet you are not a heavy user of tehtering, otherwise evil AT&T (other major carriers are the same) probably have already sent you a warning letter.

Update server(s) are getting hammered now so just wait a few minutes and try again. I'm on my 3rd One X update now and they have been getting progressively slower and slower to download the update.

I think I speak for everyone when I say Thank you so much to the mods for the heads up on this.....![]()
The update is epic makes the device feel like a new device. I'd like to think we had a hand in this getting released but I doubt it.....Man, not even a weeks notice, such poor communication.

Sadly to say it probably is, did some investigating on the satisfaction of the users who got JB on the rogers carrier while waiting for the release on AT&T. Wifi bugs on the One X seem to be a common issue with this update, just pray that HTC will release a fix for those issues.

It's for NFC (Near Field Communication)

Had a chat with HTC support today about "Check for Updates" basically doing nothing. He had a couple of things I could try but said that if they didn't work, I'd probably have to do a factory reset. Well, I did and they didn't. Crud. Since I am still running Win2K on my computer (don't ask), backing up and restoring isn't going to be as easy as it should be.

I read abou that too, I would of expected them to have it all fully tested with all this time they had. After a very long time in the works with it and still buggy. Hope so, they need to fix that issue fast.
