It's probably just a security update and not JB. Read this for more info.

Same thing! I just downloaded everything. I'm still debating on whether to wait, or root it anyway
Are you kidding? That would be like someone handing you the keys to a BMW, but you'll keep driving the mini van because your old car dealership throws in a free air freshener.
ROOT IT!

For non-rooted full backup, use Carbon or My Backup Pro.

I am eagerly waiting JB update as well as the rest but how does Custom roms improve battery life? This is my one x running stock AT&T ICS. Iwould think three days average use is good enough.

You might want to root. This security update might prevent it.......LOL!
As I said, they are not going to do anything to minimize the sale of new phones and contracts. Why would they? Far more people will just pay the money to get the newer OS then even find this posting?

TwistedTxn - How do you get more than one day out of your battery? I hardly use my phone and the battery drains througout the day (I've tried a bunch of different settings)... I was hoping the JB update would help that, but not looking like that's coming any time soon.

I am so freaking mad. As I was reading the last page or two I got my hopes up, just to have them crushed again. I filed my complaint with the BBB. They sent it to AT&T and AT&T contacted me, unfortunately I was unavailable at the time and missed the call. They are supposed to call me back tomorrow.
I literally don't even care anymore. I check this forum everyday, check different websites for information, everything. And all I get it "we're working on it". That answer is not sufficient anymore AT&T, in case you haven't noticed. You might not be worried about to "few" customers your going to lose from this but just think. We're going to tell our friends and family, who's going to tell their friends and family, who's going to tell their friends and family. Eventually people are going to sick and tired of your crappy customer service. Not just us customers who are waiting for the JB updates on our HOX but everyone.
Example of the crappy customer service:
My boyfriend had to call AT&T the other day and get his internet fixed. The rep on the phone kept trying to get him to change settings and stuff. I told the rep that he probably just needs to update his date package so he can get 4G. Well the rep basically told me I didn't know what I was talking about. But after it was all said and done he apologized to me because I was right! It's pretty sad that I had to Tell him how to do his job.
Moral of the story: AT&T, if your reps don't know how to do their jobs, then don't put them on the phone to help us. And you need to start informing your reps so they can inform us. This is so ridiculous.
If someone said "Hey I'll pay your way out of your AT&T contract if you switch to Verizon" I would so it in a heartbeat.
This isn't just about the HOX and the JB anymore. It's about how you could care less if your customers are happy or not. You must have forgotten that we are the ones who pay your bills. If it wasn't for us, there would be no AT&T. You need your customers way more than your customers need you. There's plenty of other carriers to switch too.
We're not even asking that much: "Just give us more information on the update." "When is it coming?" "Is it even coming?"
Those aren't hard questions..."Do I want to leave AT&T for Verizon?" That's not a hard question either.

The only message I got from AT&T is: Your AT&T wireless bill is ready to view.
(Checked softare update: tells me up to date)

Also while on wifi at home make sure you turn off data plan to reduce battery usage. That makes a big difference for me at least. Hope something said may be useful.

Guess I wrote this in the wrong thread - oh well. All of you that are wishing, hoping, praying for this crappy bloatware laiden update - go to the XDA forums (search google, not sure if I can post links here or not). Root your phone (not illegal) permanently, and flash a custom Jellybean rom to it. Viper XL is a GREAT rom that is based off of the Rogers (ATT Canada, basically) version of Jellybean. It works GREAT! Plus, once you root the phone, you can continue to install new roms, and keep it up to date, since AT&T has decided to dump support for this phone. I just got fed up and did it, an and was surprised at how easy it is to do. If any updates come out, I'm sure they'll block the exploit that is available to root the phone, thus preventing you from ever updating the Android OS once support for it ends (which probably has happened already, all thing considered, lol). Good luck!

More insult to injury:
How is it that the update for the One X isn't out yet?
We are going on 1000 reponses in this thread! I'm sorry, but what the ****???
Looks like it's time to root, then wait for the next Nexus phone, then kick AT&T to the curb.

That's odd. I found that by leaving my Wi-Fi off my battery lasts much longer. Last night I turned it on with 74% battery (after 2 days). This morning the phone was dead - totally discharged.
BTW: The reason I was able to extend my battery life is:
- I disabled all AT&T apps that alowed it. (Settings > All apps
- Under Settings > Developer options > Background process limit: set to 2.
Since I am a "light user" that sometimes gives me up to 3 days without a charge.

This happens with just about any update (found this out when HTC sent out the sw update back in august, if it fails to download the update over the air it will switch to saying sotware up to date try again in 24 hours (Definite bug to report to HTC). I screwed up twice on that update because I forgot to plug my one x to charger and it canceled my update because it got low on charge (yes a failure on my behalf....I figuratively bashed my head against the wall on both times)

What I am finding to be frustrating at this point are the people that are trying to convince everyone to root their phones. Then again, maybe it is me who is confused, I thought that this was a place I could get information about the Jelly Bean update from AT&T. Whichever the case, we don’t want your advice on rooting, so why don’t you please start your own discussion on the topic instead of trying to find followers here.

The reason why there are so many people saying "Hey root your phones!" is because they are sick and tired of waiting. Many of these people are also previous posters or views in this thread and after seeing all the negative feedback on the subject from fellow owners of the One X on the dissatisfaction that they have now rooted thier phones. As a result, they wanted to proclaim the results of their choices because it was a great idea and a great alternative fix to the problem at hand, which is a question we all want to know : When at&t will release JB to the One X. The advice appears because people are asking on this thread how or why they should.

I love the rooting talk, going to try out viper in a few weeks when I have more time. Wasn't too excited about CM but different strokes...
It's not like we have much to say on a proper HTC update, besides the same bemoaning over and over.
