I just find it strange that we bought a GS3 and my One X on the same day and the GS3 has had the JB update for more than a month now.

Why I appreciate all your postings as Community Manager, you really have no explanation as to why its taking ATT, a huge company, months (so far) longer than much smaller carriers to prepare the JellyBean update. You explain your communications process and the status ofthe update until this time, but never an explanation WHY it isn't already done when all other carriers have it completed.
I'm a super-loyal ATT Wireless customer, but this is making me look at other carriers for the first time in YEARS - for my entire 5 line Family plan.
P.S. The Samsung S 3 is already updated, and it came out a few months after the HTC One X. You would be more well received if you explained WHY other devices you carry with later release dates are already updated and not the HTC One X, and why other carriers had no problem certifying it in a reasonable time and you haven't. Your focus has been on why you can't give an EXACT date where its actually the NO APPARENT REASONABLE REASON DELAY is what has everyone upset.

At&t doesn't care about this thread. They don't even care if they lose some of us as customers. They are betting that their new flagship phones will draw new customers and replace those of us who are threatening leaving them over this debacle. Their corporate philosophy is not customer care which is why it appears they haven't done much to address the fact that they are consitently at the bottom in terms of customer satisfaction. Bottom line, Jamileh has no new information or no pertinent information that is going to set us at ease because it is not a priority for at&t to update this phone. They will get around to it when they get around to it. The party that is most likely to be affected by this debacle is not at&t but HTC which is going to feel the brunt of this debacle as those of us who love their phones are not likely to purchase them in the future on this carrier anyway. Let's face it Apple and Samsung have the power to do their own thing and not rely ultimately on carriers to get their updates out in a timely manner. HTC does not. Until they are in a position to push at&t to get updates out in a more timely manner their bottom line is going to suffer.

Your excuse that it "takes time" to certify an update has been way over exhausted. Not only have smaller carriers around the world done it faster, but other phones have already gotten the update, quite a while ago. <CM Edit>

I didn't join "the good fight" until after I had rooted. If there is one thing I agree with the Community Manager on, it's the fact that this thread needs to keep growing. Jamileh thinks that it will mystically ignite a fire in the pants of their dev team and get them to work faster, whereas I think this thread is important to draw attention to how poorly ATT is handling this. The same HOX in your hand has long been running Jelly Bean in other parts of the world. The fact is, ATT wanted this phone as their exclusive device in the US. They got what they wanted, and we suffer because of it. The Galaxy S3 was updated quickly because ATT had to keep up with other US carriers. And besides, Samsung made ATT look foolish by allowing people to download the update via Kies, rather than waiting for ATT to get off their thumbs and push it OTA. If I do (generously) allow ATT to keep my business, I'm not going to buy a phone that is exclusive to them. They clearly need a competitor to provide them with proper motivation to support their products <CM Edit>.
So by all means, rooted or not, do not give ATT the comfort of your silence. They deserve the headache. Be loud, be angry, keep it civil, and keep posting!

I just switched to AT&T last fall after nearly a decade with another carrier. Issues with poor signal strenght doomed that relationship, but updates and customer communications were fantastic. When I signed up and bought the HTC One X, I figured I was getting a phone that AT&T would support and that Jelly Bean would be arriving shortly on it. Let's just say I'm quite disappointed and not sure if I'll stay past my contract term.

I agree with you, but what is left to say? As a collective unit do we believe that just having a large number of posts is going to make a difference? Are we trying to start a movement here? Do we have actual demands like:
1. AT&T, communicate a timeline for when you expect updates for our phones similar to other carriers. Said communication should be provided X number of months in advanced of a release or Y number of months after the update is available from the hardware vendor.
2. AT&T, allow customers to opt-out of bloatware installations. Provide base/raw OS's and let us decide if we want the additional software/services on a phone.
3. AT&T, do not enforce locked bootloaders so customers do not have to be dependent on AT&T for updates. Or maybe provide a friendly way to allow customers to update their phones (which could just leverage item 2)
I don’t mind continue to post even though I am now on 4.2.1 (which is definitely than the 4.1 that they are going to push out). However, if you want people who have already updated their phone (many who have stopped posting already btw) to continue to stay here, there should be something we are fighting for with clear purpose and possibly clear coordination. Not just a bunch of rants from angry customers.

That's not AT&T's call. All HTC devices have locked bootloaders, regardless of carrier. Or are you referring to the AT&T CID being blocked on HTCDev.com (than I would agree)? Because its not clear what exactly you are referring to.

Wouldn't count on that being actual fact as March 15 is a Friday. Doubtful that a major update like this would be rolled on a friday.

This article applies the date to the launch of a new phone, not to the release of the update discussed in this thread.
To my knowledge, the release date of the HTC ONE has not been announced.
Please take unverified/unsourced stories with a grain of salt.

That article doesn't have a source, so we don't know where that date came from, other than that it is maybe when the HTC One will be available from AT&T. I think the author of the article assumed that Jelly Bean for the One X will be released alongside the launch of the One, or he just confused the two events.

I bought my One X about 4 months ago... I love my phone... Minus bloatware (that I have no need for nor would subscribe to)... I like everyone else bought with the intention of it being updated in a timely manor. While I have been an ATT customer for 6+ years this was my 1st android phone. I recently upgraded my wifes iPhone 3GS that she has had for 2 years to a One X (eagerly checking for updates every day). I am disappointed... After I bought my phone, the X+ was released 2 months later.. I paid the same price for my One X that I could've got the X+ for. I got my wifes for .99 (which she hates the phone.. I thought I could convert her.. haha...). I DL'd all the stuff to root and flash yesturday.. I too don't really care anymore if they do release the update.. even if they do,.. if pushing 4.1 was this hard.. I doubt that this will ever see 4.2 or beyond... I am done with ATT after our contract is up... I only renewed because of this phone.. silly me... I have a 300 MB limit and 200 texts.. I could pay the same for unlimited through cricket or someone similar... Data I'm not too worried about, I'm usually always on WIFI anyway.. would like to not worry about texts... ViperXL here I come....

It is ridiculous it takes so long for one of the biggest cell company in the world to release the jelly bean update to our phones. Some one in the IT department needs to be fired for poor managing skills. My friend rooted his phone and installed the JB update. His phone is working better than mine. It is faster, it can handle games better, the beat sound is better, battery last longer.
How long does it take to certify a phone? My boss asks for project timeline. It does not take two months to certify a software upgrade, if that's the case you know my thoughts..

Seriously AT&T? 19 pages of complaints isnt enough to light a fire under your *butts* I think what people want most is a date, a time frame, something. We're not asking you to beam the update to our phone right NOW (as awesome as that would be). We just want to be informed. The longer you wait, the more customers you are losing. Get it together.

I think Im going to wait for the Samsung Galaxy S4 to come out and just switch to another carrier after this. If I have to pay a contract fee, Ill just sell this phone and pay the difference. This is getting old, fast!

My understanding is that HTC provided a locked bootloader. They also provided a means to unlock it using the htcdev website. AT&T has somehow blocked us from doing that (I don't understand the details of how or why). I guess I figured that life would have been a little easier from a development point of view if they had not done that. I know typically the hw vendor locks it down, but I don't know to what extent the carrier either requires that or what their envovlement is.
Basically my comment/point is that I would like AT&T to be easier to work with ![]()

I could care less about being told a date as to when we might receive Jelly Bean, that time is long past… What we should be demanding is that they release it to us, NOW. No more waiting around for them to make more profits off of the One X+ by showing it with Jelly Bean installed, I.E. “The HTC One X+ comes with HTC Sense 4+ and the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system”. Enough is enough, do the right thing and perhaps you will retain a few of the people here as future customers.

This is SERIOUSLY FRUSTRATING! This is my first android phone, I had an iPhone and when it was time for my upgrade in November I let the guy talk me into getting this phone instead of the 5. I'm starting to think that was a mistake, but now I'm stuck with this or pay a huge price to buy the phone outright. Get it together AT&T, this is ridiculous!!!

It was my first android phone too, except that i chose to switch to android for more customization. However, I'm seriously limited by the lack of updates and the crippling battery life that I have right now.
