I have had the most ridiculous experience with AT&T with this HTC One X. First off let me say that I have been an AT&T customer for over five years and pay my bills on time. I have a family plan with three smartphones. As soon as I am eligible for an upgrade on any line I restart my contract and get new phones. I purchased the HTC One X on December 15th and since then the phone has been replaced four times, I have called Technical Support at least 10 times, been to the device center four times before they asked me not to come back. I dont understand how this phone can constantly not receive calls or texts for hours on end and then all of a sudden I have thirty messages that come in at the same time. Every time I call technical support they give me the same run around that makes no sense. I really dislike being told that the towers are down in my area when my daughter has a 4G LTE phone as well and she hasnt missed a call but I have. The Sim has been replaced, a master reset has been done and again I have had FOUR replacements. If AT&T doesnt mind giving away these phones maybe I should go to the device center to get one every week until the update is released to AT&T customers and hopefully that will fix the problem. There should be lemon laws for cell phones because paying for the service and not receiving it is the horrible. And AT&T has the nerve to say youre the best part of their company, I cant tell. Sprint or Verizon would have replaced the device with a different make and model as opposed to giving me the run around for 6 weeks and handing me several new phones out of the box. Their technial support are so nice but when you have talked to them several times they become part of the problem. I would like to be escalated but of course AQT&T doesnt care, Im just another whiny customer until I go down the street to Sprint next week.

This is insane. I had an S3 (that I hated) and waited for months for the JB update. Soon after (finally) getting it, the phone died. So I took the opportunity to change to an HTC 1X... I LOVE the phone, but here I am waiting for JB again. Did this catch AT&T by surprise somehow? I realize they have a lot of devices to support, but that's the business they're in! My family has been loyal customers for YEARS, but this (lack of support, NO information) alone is enough to make me switch. I suspect I'll be out of luck as far as when I can get out of my contract, but I WILL be looking anyway. I'm NOT one of those people who need the latest and greatest - but I AM one of those people who thinks that if a company can't keep up with its competitors it should be abandoned.

Today is the 8th. Just checked. No updates available as I assumed. I heard they will release the update next Friday, from a guy standing by the AT&T store yesterday. No, wait, now I a guy at Walmart is telling me it will be released tomorrow. I will confirm this with my gas station attendant, he should know. He sells phone cases.

My uncle that works at Nintendo said he has a friend that works at AT&T who said it'll be out on the 30th this month.

So, JB will be out on the 30th of February? Good trick! Maybe he meant to say it would be out on the 35th of the month.

I told you guys a few days ago that you are not important to AT&T in the way you want to be. Your update doesn't matter. What matters is reducing staff and increasing margins. While AT&T and Sprint are cutting corners Verizon is holding firm on their pricing and still bleeding subscribers away. They will eventually improve this, but it's going to take awhile and Jelly Bean updating for HTC One X is not a priority.

HTC and Sony Playstation mobile teamed up to give away a free game each week for the HTC One X in the month of February.... but apparently its only for HTC one X running on Jellybean. So we missed out on free games. -_-

They blocked you? That's a bit excessive. They seem fairly capable of ignoring people. Even when they do respond, it's some canned non-information that's more frustrating than silence. Maybe. I don't know. The silence is frustrating too. Really, AT&T's whole approach is frustrating.
This will be the last update I wait on AT&T for. This is ridiculous.

Quick couple of comments, then if this thread doesn't switch back to something informative rather than a bunch of people whining I will stop checking it. For the person who has had their HOX replaced 4 times under warranty already, I know for a fact that they will allow you to get a comparable phone after your's has been replaced a few times. If the person on the phone doesn't offer (which they most likely will not) then ask them. If they say no or do not seem to know about this ability then ask to speak to a manager. I have had this done myself on other phones, and I know a few other people that have done the same. Honestly though, don't expect a HOX+ or Note 2, it will not be considered "comparable" more than likely. Post if you have any luck getting this taken care of.
I am obviously frustrated by the fact we do not have the 4.1 update, otherwise I would not have joined this thread. That being said, nothing constructive comes of filling page after page with pointless complaints. It's obvious that the customer-facing reps have not been given any info about when this release will roll out, and so it is safe to assume that some 3rd party retailer, or uninvolved company (ie. gaming system makers or website hosts) will not get that info before the reps that will actually be supporting the product. Please start limiting posts to things that you may have discovered or any clues you may happen across ABOUT THIS UPDATE. Ok, off my soap box now... sorry.

I'm heading to the AT&T store tomorrow to talk to a salesperson with my gf because she wants to see how much it would be to set up a plan (and so she can get a GS3). While I'm there I'm going to ask if they have any clue on when the HOX JB update is coming out. The one store near me is pretty loose lipped, I went up there to get a release date on the HOX because I kept hearing of it being pushed back and I wanted a positive answer...the clerk said "We actually have some in stock, do you want one?", obviously I took them up on this ASAP. I got the phone about 3 or 4 days or so before the actual release date...So if they are careless enough to sell a phone before it's release date, I'm pretty sure they'll speak up about the update if they have any knowledge of it

Really AT&T? This is the second time I purchased a phone that was supposed to be flagship and this is the second time I have had to wait for an update. I am getting the impression that you are doing this on purpose so that people will give up and pay another $200+ for a handset with the latest update. I could say that I will be moving my business to another carries when my contract is over, but I doubt that you will miss me and my 5 lines and three data plans not to mention all my friends and family that are also tired of you dragging your feet in bringing all your customers up to date. Poor show AT&T, very poor.

I signed up here just to voice my dissatisfaction with AT&T's slow updates. If you are one of the nation's leading carriers you should lead the charge in bringing the latest and greatest experiences to your customers. A big part of that is obviously going to be the OS and you guys have been historically slow to roll out those updates. Considering how much engineering resources you guys should have compared to the other players, it's kind of sad that it's taking so long to do some internal testing and certification when others have done in in less time with less resources. It's even worse that nobody at AT&T has a clear picture of what's going on and what the timing is going to be. It's not like your customers are asking for anything unreasonable, just 1) having updates rolled out in a realistic timeframe before the next version is released or 2) at least having a concrete answer for schedule. Very disappointing indeed.

I've been with AT&T since 1997, when I signed up with SBC Communications for cell phone service through my home phone. I have never been with another cell provider until.....now.
Aside from multiple iPhone replacements due to tiny Chinese hands screwing up an assembly process, I have had no real hardware or service issues until I purchased the One X.
Issue One: Out of the box - the phone was perfect. Until I decided to purchase an OtterBox which the AT&T drone insisted was difficult to attach and he should demonstrate. Ten minutes later, after dropping the phone twice and creating a series of bizarre cracking sounds, he separated the glass from the body. I was given a new phone and decided that instead of paying $39.99 to have Hammy Hamfister break yet another product, I would take my business down to Fry's where the EXACT SAME CASE was $15.99.
Issue Two: Text messages are completely inconsistent. I get them at all hours of the day, sent from times that occurred many hours prior. I have been told this is a "LTE Radio issue" a "problem with the SIM card", a "problem with the phone" and even the completely asinine question, "Are you sure someone sent you a text?" I have since replaced the phone, twice.....received two new SIM cards, offered the customer service people delicious candy.....everything. Somehow though, it always comes down to...."Oh I'm sorry to hear you're having these problems...can we interest you in high speed internet?"
Issue Three: Stop selling me things when I call. The recording they have states, "Due to high demand for AT&T products and services..." which roughly translates to "Because our pay is on par with Del Taco and we have have the highest concentration of unsatisfied customers in the telecom world, your wait time may be only slightly less than waiting for us to upgrade your 'flagship' device."
If I was in the market to downgrade from 20MB/s cable to 3MB/s DSL, trust me AT&T, you'd be first in line. However, trying to wrap that package neatly into my customer service call (the one where you can't solve a problem at the core of your services) is a little over the top.
Issue Four: Updates. When I bought this phone, the suit told me that, "It's Jelly Bean ready! When it's released...." Well, it was released. Close to six months ago - or in technology time, several years ago. And now, basically mid-Feb, we still wait. No point in regurgitating what has already been posted here repeatedly - just update the phone already. Unless of course, you're gunning for the third year in a row as being listed as the worst cell phone provider in the country by Consumer Reports.
Regardless, at the end of my contract in April - AT&T will be losing 8 family talk lines. In May, they will lose all 27 business cell phone lines. It's been fun, AT&T, but you guys truly are the Jiffy Lube of cell phone companies.

Perfectly said.
I can't say AT&T will miss my business as much as yours. I've been on my family's plan for many years, but in a year I'll be graduating and getting my own plan. This "trial run" with AT&T has not been impressive, and I promise I won't even be looking at AT&T when deciding who to start my own line with unless AT&T has a complete overhaul in update policy.
Which is incredibly unlikely.
