This will enable your HSDPA
I had this enabled on my Tilt through Kaisertweaks, but didn't notice much of a difference in speed. As I live in an area with 3G, will enabling HSDPA on my Pure make any difference at all in connection speed? Thanks.
I'm still testing this. What I have observed so far after using this hack:
1. The 3G indicator icon will change to H but the smaller 3G connection icon stays as 3G. And this is not consistent. Sometime when I reboot the phone it was back to 3G again. Not sure if it is signal related or not.
2. Speed test varies a lot. Highest I've see was 1290kbps once or twice. Average is 650kbps and a lot times I saw 100kbps or below. Again it could be signal related.
More testing is needed to make a conclusive confirmation.

I had the same behavior last night with the icons. This morning, after performing a soft reset, the "H" has been replaced once again with "3G." The registry values haven't changed. I haven't tested the speed, but, as you said, the signal can vary.

Same here. Can't get any conclusive results because AT&T's 3G network in my area is very unpredictable.
On the other hand, I found out that Pocket IE does have Flash Lite plug-in installed while Opera does not. I was able to use it witha few sites that requires Flash. One of such site is speedtest.net

I'm new to this forum, so point me in the right direction if there is a tutorial or other basic info, but how do I tether? I've tried following the directions with the phone and no luck.
I did it once in a while when away from home on my last phone - unlocked Palm Treo Pro - not sure if that matters. Running XP
Thanks

That just seems to lead me to download a program for my computer: Communications Manager which I'm not sure that I really need.
When I try to connect in Internet Sharing on my Pure I either get:
'The remote party has ended this connection' without it actually connecting
or
'Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To change your connection settings, tap Settings'
or
'waiting for network' without anything happening
I must have some setting off

Okay, I have a tip and I need a tip: When entering the WPA pre-share key for a wifi network, there does not appear to be any way to paste the key in. However, if you switch to the standard windows mobile qwerty keyboard, the ctrl-v combination will paste the key in correctly.
Okay, I know there are two files, Disable Proxy and Restore Proxy, that each seem to install a cab file related to their respective file names. I was able to connect to my wifi and view web pages and whatnot. However, When I disabled the wifi, I lost my data connection. The phone says I am connected to medianet, but neither browser can open a page, and neither browser has a proxy setting that I can find. What am I missing?

You will have to pay for tethering plan to make tethering work the official way![]()
Pure comes with an easy tethering app called InternetSharing. Once launch this app, you can use either USB or Bluetooth (need BT PAN support on PC side) to connect your PC to it. No software is need on PC side other than BT drivers or maybe ActiveSync/WMDC.
However, InternetSharing is also hardcoded to isp.cingular APN which requires you to purchase tethering plan.
That's all I can say here. Read my 1st post and I already point you a way out.

The proxy is hardcoded internally. These two cabs are actually used to modify the necessary registry keys to enable or disable the proxy. With proxy enabled, you may have problem connect to internet web pages. Without proxy, you can't access any of those AT&T web pages like MediaNet Home, CV etc.
That's the theory. However, I have yet to encounter any problem so far with or without proxy. There are three ways to launch a browser: IE icon, Opera icon and Mobile Web icon. Some of them may go through a proxy app that can automatically enable or disable proxy, e.g. the Mobile Web icon.

Does anyone know a way to get Google maps to work with the zoom bar?
Also, is there a way to get HTC's wireless router program?

I've found that IE doesn't work for most of the sites I use that have Flash content. What I get is a window with an "f" where the Flash content should be, which I assume means that the Flash content isn't supported. I am able to view Youtube Mobile content, though. I wonder why the content on certain sites is supported, while others are not?

On my Pure, when you go to settings->system->Power (or you can click on battery icon), there is a information page displays info like Standby time, talk time, device usage and last full charge. Found the answer on XDA-Developer.com:
When you charge the phone, leave the phone on, not off, nor standby. Charge until the LED turn green. Now you will see information about when was the last time it is fully charged. How long the phone has been in standby. Talk time etc. Very interesting information.

Different site has different requirements on Flash version. Opera shows "f" on all sites which means it doesn't have flash at all. The two sites I've tried: dslreports.com's speed test and speedtest.net both worked with IE's flash lite. I know dslreports.com requires only flash v 8.0.
However, Flash Lite is painfully slow and buggy. It's not that useful anyway.

I have to say, this is a very useful thread.
Does anyone know how to remove the Facebook app that appears to come pre-installed?
I want to remove it because the Marketplace lists a newer version of the app released 10/2 (version 1.1 as opposed to 1.0007 or something like that).
When I download the new version it makes Facebook appear twice under "All Programs" (the start menu folder) but I can't tell if 2 versions are installed or it's just creating a duplicate shortcut.

I like to see a way to remove the build-in one as well. When you launch Facebook app via either shortcut, both will report version 1.007, although I've downloaded and installed version 1.10 update. Don't know where the updates have gone

how do you remove 'getting started' from the windows mobile today screen? i find the item that says "done! remove getting started" but clicking it just takes me into getting started.
also, not being able to uninstall stuff is ridiculous.

I was able to go to the "Start" menu in the Windows directory and under "Programs" (folder), delete those that I do not want to appear on my screen.
I also have selectively removed other bloatware from the non Windows folders - freed up a great deal of space. More than 34.5 M.
WARNING - removing programs from other folders in the Windows directory caused Tilt II to "crash" requiring a hard reset. So, if you are going to experiment, backup after each removal.

Not sure how to customize WM6.5 Titanium home screen yet.
About the uninstalling of Facebook app, that's the problem with apps pre-installed in the ROM. Uninstall doesn't free up any space because the app is in the ROM. The best you can do is remove the shortcuts.

You can download CHome Editor from xda-developers.com to customize the WM6.5 Titanium home screen.

Here is how "Spell Correction" works: When enabled, the corrected word will show up in suggestion line with or without the word completion feature. "Word Completion for ABC" only works for phone keypad, not on-screen keyboard, e.g.TP2's keyboard as suggested by the settings.

Thanks for the clarification. The terminology in the settings is a little bit confusing IMO.
