I don't think I know of anybody or any place where I might get that done. I know a little about this kind of stuff. It's just that these instructions are sort of vague for someone who hasn't ever worked with registry keys. Is there some sort of guide I could look up?
Or, if it's not too complicated, could somebody lay it out for me?
Thanks

Resco Editor (not free - but you can down load for "free" trial) will make your life a lot less complicated.
You should be able to work your way through this easy to use utility to make the changes that you want.
Make sure that you backup first, just in the unlikely event that you make an error and need to restore. (SPB Backup also has "free" trial, if you do not have a backup program.)

The vague part is intentional by me
Modify registry key without knowing what you're doing is a quick way to render your phone useless.
I've made a cab file myself to incorporate all my registry tweaks. If you're interested, PM me and use at your own risk.

I guess that might work.
I just really want one tweak, though, to make that band page appear so I can try and adjust it.
I mean no offense or anything or the sort, but if someone could give more specific instructions on just this little one I'm pretty sure I could handle it.

MediaNet interferes with my GPS program (iNav) and I want to permanently disable it. As far as I can tell from reading this forum, I only need MediaNet to access AT&T-specific items such as CV, etc. or if I want to send MMS (which I don't).
First of all, is my understanding correct? Do I need MediaNet for phone calls, internet access, or email?
Second, I read on another post that you could stop MediaNet from running if you disabled the proxy. I did ... but MediaNet still starts up and renders my GPS program inoperable. I was able to access the web and email with the proxy disabled ...
Please help! Can I safely disable MediaNet and still make calls, access the internet, and download email? If so, how do I do it?
Thank you!

You are greatly confused. First of all AT&T calls its cellular internet connection 'MEdia Net'. So it you disable MEdia Net, you disabled internet access. Then there is typically a proxy associated with MEdia Net internet access. You can disable the proxy but that doesn't disable the internet access, rather bypass the proxy server. To bypass proxy, you need to do couple things depending on whether or not you use IE or Opera. But proxy should only affect browsers.
I don't know why your iNav, or any GPS program should be affected by cellular data connection. I use Garmin Mobile XT and it works just fine.

Thanks for your reply. I know I don't understand what a proxy is or what impact enabling it or disabling it has. The conflict with iNav is indicated on their website so seems to be program specific. I never had any issues with my Tilt but for some reason have it constantly with the Pure.
I looked at Garmin but their website said it doesn't speak street names and that feature is very important to me.
It seems like my only option (other than buying a stand-alone GPS which I don't want to do) is to turn on airplane mode while I'm using GPS ... only problem is, then I can't make or receive calls ... so I can either use GPS or the phone but not both at the same time. Bummer.
Any other suggestions?

Hi goggin,
Which AT&T phone do you have? Does CoPilot pronounce street names? Their website seemed to indicate that was only available in certain locations ...

I might have understood this wrong, but according to what the guy at HTC Brazil told me, different carriers here "prefer" different bands. The same thing happened to my mother's HTC Diamond, the difference was her cell phone had the option to change the band right away.

I have the Tilt 2. CoPilot is available for US (where I live) and other countries, too, but I've not looked further than the US. It gives turn directions, but does not pronounce the street name (just says..."turn in 500 ft"...."Turn right now"...etc.)

I have an intermittent problem accessing Yahoo! bizmail (POP access) that might be related. I'm not sure if it's the proxy server or not but I have run a tracert from the phone when I can access vs. not are here are the results:
doesn't work -> 172.26.248.2->172.18.141.18->172.18.194.78->172.18
Works -> 172.26.248.2->172.18.141.18->172.18.194.78->17
My results have been consistent (many screen captures showing this) - anytime the *.*.*.228 server is accessed I cannot get to bizmail. I turn airplane mode on - disconnects the phone from the network - turn airplane mode off (may have to recycle a couple of times) and eventually I'm back on the *.*.*.225 server and all is OK.
I haven't noticed the behavior with any other program but have not used GPS either. Has the GPS app ever worked for you?

I could still use some help on the band changing thing, but I also have another problem now, which I just hope is easier to solve.
Is there a way I can make the alarm repeat itself on my Pure? Sometimes I just don't hear it, and it doesn't repeat, so I oversleep. Also, is there a way to make the alarm a song?
Thanks

This is a great forum. Just got my HTC Pure a few days ago and I'm trying to make it a little more user friendly. Skyfire is a much better browser than Opera except two things. No support for the zoom feature on the phone and I can't get it to auto rotate. I've read all the posts in this forum and have tried the regedit, but Skyfire won't rotate. Here's what I've done:
Under [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GS
Skyfire = "\Program Files\Skyfire\Skyfire.exe"
Under [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GS
Skyfire = "Skyfire"
I'm using PHM regedit. Am I doing something wrong?
Under modulesI add a string value:
Value name:
Skyfire
Value Data:
\Program Files\Skyfire\Skyfire.exe
and for whitelist I add string value:
Value name:
Skyfire
Value data:
Skyfire
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I use a program called "changeScreen" on my phone to auto rotate. A few key points about it though, it does require some additional setup steps for it to work, and with any broswer, if you have flash items currently "running" you have to pause them or go to another site, before the screen will rotate. Instructions aren't too hard to follow, but you will need some persistance, and some "trial and error" runs before you may get it set the way you want. The zoom function, not too sure about that, but my Skyfire lets me double tap on the screen to zoom in....

Did you reboot your phone after the changes? Skyfire should work without any issues.

If you mean reboot by pressing the red reset button yes, several times. Other changes to the registry I've made have worked, but don't seem permanent. For example, I've tried to chagne the default uri for opera to google, but when I go to the launch browser button on touchFlow3d it still takes me to att.net. I'm not sure if I'm just missing something.
Thanks

With Skyfire flash works. That's why I'm trying to get it to auto rotate. The other option is to get flash to work with opera. And it can, well mostly, without Flashlite. XDA does it again. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=5

Hi Addi, I also use iNav. I haven't found a fix but for some reason data can not be running when you fire up iNav. After it's up and running you can use phone and data without any problem. Before you start iNav just go to wireless manager and make sure data connection is turned off. That should be a better workarond than going into flight mode.
Thank you so much ... that is a much easier solution than anything I was trying.

44770 I've tried it and it works, not for all sites, but many. I'd still like to figure out the problem I'm having to get Skyfire to auto rotate (not using additional apps). As always, any help is greatly appreciated.
Skyfire rotates for me with no problem whatsoever. It worked with the registry hack, then I eventually installed G Config after doing a hard reset, and it works with that also. I could be wrong, but I believe G Config merely makes changes to the registry and doesn't actually run in the background to allow applications to rotate. It might be worth a try it you can't get the registry hack to work. If you do use it, you will also need to install the latest net compact framework v3.5

I'll give g-config a try, and report back. I can't understand why the registry hack won't work, but maybe g-config will make a difference. I wonder if it makes any difference what version of Skyfire I'm using. I mean I can't see why it would but I'm stymied at this point and am willing to try anything. I could try other apps if I new what the window class is, to see if it works with a different app. I'll see what I can come up with and let everyone know. Thanks for your post.
