I was wondering if anybody else has had problems with their Wifi automatically dropping
when your wifi is turned on. At random times my Wifi disconnects from different networks even though
my wifi is turned on. I could be at work or my home network and the icon on the top bar disappears
and I check to make sure the Wifi is turned on. It stays on all the time. I have checked the advanced
wifi sleep settings and have it set to "never". The connectivity just disconnects at random times.
I am wondering if there is anything I'm missing or my Wifi at work and home are having signal problems.
The only thing that seems to work is to turn off the wifi and then turn it back on to connect.

My wifi connection at home on my brand new Inspire connects, then almost instantly disconnects, then tries to reconnect. The wifi router also restarts at the same time. Neither the phone nor the screen are going to sleep. The phone connects beautifully to other wifi networks and several other devices (laptops) connect beautifully to my home network. I just called HTC support and their response, after a couple of resets and a failed attempt to connect with the wifi security turned off, is that my Inspire is incompatible with my home network. Not a good answer! Since then, I have been trying to connect my Inspire to the internet through a laptop using the "internet pass through" setting but neither the phone nor the laptop seem to recognize the USB connection between them even thought the "internet pass through" setting is turned on. Why do things never work like they are supposed to? Any suggestions or offers of hope?

Thanks for the suggestion about drivers. I downloaded the appropriate driver, but it still didn't work until I tried a different USB cord. The USB/power cord supplied with the phone does not work in any USB mode. The pc never even sees it. When I use the USB/power cord I purchased at the AT&T store with a second charger, the pc immediately sees it and everything works fine. With respect to my home wireless network connection, I swapped out my old DLINK router with a new Linksys router and it works fine. However, both routers used the 2.4 frequency, so I think it was simply another undocumented hardware incompatibilty. Again, thanks for you help.

I just bought a wifi router for first time yesterday specifically for using the Inspire as an economical way to stream music to my garage receiver. Setup Netgear 3800 N600 then connected phone manually and it worked superbly for about an hour on wifi with music streaming in garage. Came into the house and for the next three hours it was shutting off wifi constantly. It would connect and then instantly disconnect over and over. It became extremely frustrating UNTIL I used the AT&T Smart wifi app to connect to the wifi instead of through the HTC wifi settings. Now it's recognizing and holding the wifi signal continuously with no problems. Since it's an AT&T phone, possibly the AT&T app is over riding the HTC software? I don''t know, but it works and I'm sticking with it!

Refering to your title: My Inspiring wife often automatically disconnects also, and usually at what I consider to be some of my most inspirarational moments! Random gifts seem to work the best.
